Halal Slaughter, and Schecita (Jewish Slaughter)
I was recently shocked and utterly disgusted to learn that Halal and Schecita slaughter is routinely carried out in the UK. These methods mean that animals for human consumption are NOT pre stunned before being slaughtered. They have their throats cut while still conscious, causing much pain and distress to the animal. This Disgusting, Babaric and Sadistic practice is totally unescessary in a civillised society The laws which cover animal welfare in the UK, currently do not apply to Muslims and Jews it seems. (The law is the LAW, and must apply to all in an EQUAL society)
Not only that, but over half the meat slaughtered by these methods, the parts of the animal that Jews in particular, do not consider to be Kosher, ends up on the open market without any labelling to alert the consumer to the fact that the animal has not been stunned prior to slaughter. Effectively eliminating the rights of you and I, the consumer, to make an informed choice about what WE eat.
If you, like myself, and the RSPCA, are concerned and utterly disgusted these cruel sick practices, then please write concisely in your own words to your local MP,

expressing your concerns about the welfare of animals slaughtered without prior stunning, and asking them to
implement all of the recommendations in the 2003 FAWC report.
You can also help by writing to food retailers to ask about their policies regarding the sale and labelling of
meat from animals that were not pre-stunned.

If animal welfare is important to you, I ask you to please boycott the retailers listed above, and pressure your supermarkets to reveal where their meat comes from.
