(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Voters in Massachusetts' 4th Congressional District have re-elected U.S. Rep. Barney Frank to a 16th term, rejecting a challenge from political newcomer Republican Sean Bielat.
Frank had emerged as one of Capitol Hill's most powerful Democrats while shepherding both the Wall Street overhaul bill and one of the nation's most sweeping financial regulatory bills through the House.
That role helped make the 70-year-old Frank a lightning rod for conservatives who poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into Bielat's upstart campaign.
Frank had rarely been challenged seriously during his years in Congress.

(NECN: Katie Daly, Shrewsbury, Mass.) - A former New England Patriots player is giving kids in Central Massachusetts a lesson.
He helped the Pats win three Super Bowl titles, but for Joe Andruzzi, the biggest victory was overcoming cancer.
Today in Shrewsbury, Andruzzi visited the Saint John's School to talk about his experience, and to offer students a lesson in cancer awareness.

(NECN: John Moroney, Waltham, Mass.) - Anita Hill will not say she is sorry for accusing-then Supreme Court justice nominee Clarence Thomas of sexually harassing her.
Thomas' wife, Virginia, this week left a voicemail message on Hill's phone, asking her to apologize for the 1991 allegations.
Hill says the call was "inappropriate." Virginia Thomas says she did not intend to offend Hill.
"I have no intention of apologizing because I testified truthfully about my experience and I stand by that testimony," said Hill in a statement released last night.
Hill is now a professor at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

(NECN: John Moroney) - The 33 miners trapped underground for the last 70 days are now preparing to embark on a new life. They're all celebrities now, and won't be venturing down into the San Jose mine again any time soon.
Less than 24 hours after the rescue started, the last miner reached the surface. The rescue capsule served as a lifeline for each of the miners, and they all looked great and were in great spirits when they emerged. All were greeted by rescuers, their loved ones, and hugs from Chile's president Sebastian Pinera.
The miners were extremely grateful to those that helped rescue them.
"It's incredible that we were down 700 meters and they recovered us," said Mario Sepulveda, the second miner out who cheered with the crowd and handed pieces of the mine out to rescue workers.
"I'm proud to be Chilean and to live here," said Luis Urza, the mining foreman and the last to get out.
Chile's health minister has said that all are healthier than expected, but one is being treated for pneumonia, and two will need to have dental surgery. They are all in a nearby hospital receiving tests, and some are expected to be released later tonight.
