About this user
My positions: Anti-theist atheist. Anarcho-syndicalist. Rationalist. Humanist.
My idol is historian Howard Zinn who wrote the most important book by an American: "A People's History of the United States." Please take a few minutes to view my featured video which is an excerpt of a documentary on Zinn's life called "You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train." He changed my perspective on the world.
My favorite philosopher is Friedrich Nietzsche.
My favorite composer is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
My favorite director is Stanley Kubrick.
My favorite artist is Vincent Van Gogh.
What I am: Rational, fact-based, scientific.
What I am not: Civil, when people who know nothing about science want to speak ill of it and the scientists who toil endlessly, and anonymously, so that we can have a better world.
I don't care what you believe. I care what you know. I don't care about ancient religious books of fairy tales. I care about scientific progress.
Here are some non-starters with me:
"God did it." No he didn't.
"Abiogenesis has been disproved." Not it hasn't. It is a valid hypothesis which is currenly being investigated.
"Evolution is just a theory." Darwin's Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection is an elegant, internally consistent and heavily substantiated explanation for the diversity of life we see in the world.
"A Theory is just a theory." In science, a Theory is the highest level of factual explanation that exists. This is demonstrated by the Theory of Gravity, the Theory of Relativity, Quantum Theory and Atomic Theory to name just a few.
"The Bible is evidence of Christ's divinity." No, it isn't.
"The Bible is scientifically accurate." No, it isn't.
"Prayer works." No it doesn't.
"Truth is but a marching army of metaphors, metonymies and anthropomorphisms." -Nietzsche
