Film Scoring assignment simulating a scoring stage with no computers/click involved - cue was recorded while conducting to a (soundless) video clip of a clock (I kid you not), all live players and no sequencing/editing tricks involved
Can't do much about the volume, we only got the bounced .mov off the session and I really, really hate working with .mov, so Youtube can have it directly instead. :V
High(er) quality audio-only stream - http://soundcloud.com/falk-2/indecision
We were rushing a little towards the end of this particular take, but I think it turned out pretty okay, if a little darker than the original. (I withheld from watching the original till after composition to avoid preconceptions of what it 'should' sound like)
Since I like to give toilet-seat reading material in video descriptions, here's a little of how I tackled this - basically I saw two ways to score it; we could either highlight what Prot was feeling (the obvious) or score what this scene meant in the context of the movie (the subtle).
To me, this is an important point of the movie. Prot had all but convinced the people around him that he wasn't actually insane, earning Dr Powell's trust. However his sudden erratic behavior shatters everyone's carefully cultivated opinion about him - it is at this point in the movie where things move from wonder to uncertainty.
Prot's comment "Is that apple pie I smell?" could have been treated with a dose of humor, but I felt it was more important to use the unintended lightheartedness to contrast how serious the scene actually is. (watch at the other folks' expressions as Prot walks off - something -isn't- right with his mind and ultimately it's not funny)
Players: Keys (String pad) - Sean Folk Piano - Hao Wang Violin - Goeun Park Violin - Richard Bruner Viola - Samantha Gillogly

Mid-term Video Game Scoring assignment - get handed a cutscene clip from an existing video game, compose a score for cutscene. And Falk gets to do Black Ops. What a surprise!
An Electronic Production & Design major does the FX/Foley/Dialogue work, so this is part of a collaborative effort.
Music-only Youtube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMpbUv... High(er) quality audio-only stream - http://soundcloud.com/falk-2/redemption
Considering I'm a Music Production & Engineering and Film Scoring dual major, this is maybe the first thing on the demo reel that reflects that and not nonstop electronica. :P
Based on the rails scene leading up to and including the briefing of the final mission, "Redemption" in Black Ops. Could also be a subliminal message depending on your opinion of the game and/or soundtrack. :P
I decided to go with a more Infinity Ward than Treyarch approach for this, while not going too heavy on the electronic side of things (since the game is technically supposed to be 60's...)
Drums - Arthur Kam Conga - Akash Thakkar Guitars - Ian Charlie Chong Bass - K M Au Yeong
Composed, orchestrated, produced, mixed and mastered by K M Au Yeong
Sound Design and Voice-over/Dialogue by Deep Pradhan and Jorel Cayabyab Corpus
Recorded at Berklee Film Scoring Studios.

one of the songs that will be on 2nd album. Heavily influenced by the international artists and composers including Hiromi Uehara, Avishai Cohen trio, Marcus Miller, Joe Hisaishi and more, Tokyo Blue's music has essences of Jazz, Fusion, Progressive Rock and even Film Music. Tokyo Blue uses sweet melodies with funky rhythm section and odd meters at times, constantly pushing their limits of jazz writing and improvisation while still keeping the songs melodious and story-full. Tokyo Blue has released their debut album "The Naked Soul" in October 2009. Having received overwhelming responses at DigItAll Festival 09 (Malaysia), JGTC Jazz Festival 09,10, (Indonesia) Penang Island Jazz Festival 09 (Malaysia), Mosaic Festival 11(Singapore), Tokyo Blue promises that this is only a beginning.
