There's nothing like starving your body close to death over an ancient fairy tale right out of the imaginations of ignorant and illiterate desert dwellers some thousands of years ago who didn't even know what existed over the next mountain, but yet you believe they somehow had knowledge about a magical man in the sky who incredibly created everything. I was just wondering if you believe that Jesus is the messiah?
I struggle a bit with the fasting thing, I see it in the old testament and I understand the reason for it there. But now that Jesus has come and saved us, I don't see fasting as something worth doing anymore. God is a LOVING God, and he doesn't want us to suffer for him, he wants us to be happy and whole. In fact -

Luke 5:34 "And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridgchamber
fast, while the bridegroom is with them?"

This is Jesus saying that we should be FEASTING not fasting. :)
