  • Pentacon 29mm f2.8 Lens Daylight & Lowlight Test

Test of an old manual M42 lens from Eastern Germany which I got recently from Ebay, the Pentacon auto 2.8/29 (the version without Multi Coating). The lens' widest aperture is f2.8. What impresses me is the small close focus distance of 0.25m and the solid build quality. It's got a crazy lens flare wide open, but also a very interesting one stopped down (the violet hexagons).
This is a test video in Daylight and Low Light conditions. The Daylight shots have been filmed at ISO 100, the Low Light shots at ISO 400. I used the Technicolor Cinestyle Picture Style on my Canon EOS 600D in order to have a flat image with a lot of detail and color graded the footage in post with Adobe Premiere (RGB Curves and color balance). Most of the footage was shot handheld, so sorry for the shaking ;)
