'What About the Horse? -
Losing the wild to Win the West.'
About Me:

President Obama and Secretary of Interior, Ken Salazar, we have a question for you.....

"Under the Bush Administration, has America turned its back on our very icon of freedom? If so, what does that say about us as a country, our values
and responsibility to our forefathers, children and heritage? Does our Government, the BLM, private interest groups, Oil and cattle lobbyist have Americas best interest at heart for our public lands? Or does that only apply to the people who buy into, and capitalize from 'Losing the wild to win the West?' What About the Horse?" A Voluntary Instinct Production.

If you are concerned, please help us tell this story. Visit our website below and donate today!

Wild & Domestic Horses have been exploited to the extent of disbelief, yet few people know about it. "What About the Horse?" is not only a good question, but also the title of a documentary series exploring the fate and exploitation of North American horses. This series represents every aspect of the equine industry. Join us in bringing equine welfare out of obscurity and into societies conscious. Voluntary Instinct is a 501c3 Non Profit Corporation. Your contribution helps us tell their story.
Thank you.

I do pre-adoption wild horse gentling for the USFS by contract. I think your points are all valid except that there are places where there really are too many horses and they cause environmental degradation especially erosion. When they hit the carrying capacity of the environment, horses starve to death. I totally agree with you that adopting them to people with no horse experience is pretty darn crazy, but the agencies just want the horses to get loaded up on any trailer that will open its door at the loading chute. I have yet to see anyone get their application for adoption turned down. The adopters have fantasies about their sweet little mustang until they see them get loaded on the trailer. The adopters get fear in their eyes but we make sure all the paperwork is signed before we load them. It's totally crazy.

Voluntary Instinct is simply showing the flip side of anti-horse slaughter through that particular video. We don't support horse slaughter, but we need to understand some the reasoning behind those that do.

To me the mustang is the ultimate symbol of freedom. thanks for all the videos...I do believe we need a humane system in place for unwanted horses..however I don't feel we should be over gathering the mustang, the should be free, it was their land before it was ours. Why should we as humans take that freedom away from them?
