Piano videos with a focus on game music.
About Me:

Hello, here you will find piano videos of a variety of genres, most of them game music arrangements, but also film and anime soundtrack covers, classical, jazz, pop music and a few original compositions. I've been playing for about 25 years and was clasically trained, have had several long breaks inbetween and have restarted playing about two years ago. At the moment, I am struggling to recover from a problem with my fingers and will soon have to enter an extensive rehabilitation phase, so I'm taking it easy with playing and recording for a while and will focus on a repertoire that isn't too straining.

I recorded most of my videos on these pianos:
Kawai CA9
Kawai CA63
Wendl & Lung Mod. 161

For recording from the digitals, I use the Behringer UCA222 USB Audio Interface with chinch cable adapters and record from the second headphone jack. It's an entry-level budget solution which was planned to be temporary, but I just kept using it and didn't bother to upgrade. If you are willing to invest a little more, you could get a better interface which has the appropriate inputs so you wouldn't need adapters. I then record the audio with Audacity and sync it with the recorded video using VirtualDub. If you are having trouble recording from digital pianos, there are good in-depth guides that you can find on the internet and that explain everything in great detail, just search for "record digital piano" and follow some of the first hits.
For recording from the acoustic piano, I use the Zoom H2 handy audio recorder. Again, there are solutions which will give you better quality, but doing acoustic recordings can be a pain to get right (when using several proper mics, mixers etc.) and this recorder has decent quality for the price and is relatively easy to handle when compared to doing a full mic setup.

If there are sheets available for a piece I play, they are referenced in the corresponding infobox. But a majority of my videos are my own arrangements for which there are unfortunately no sheets. There may be several solutions for this in the future, but it will most probably take a very long time until there will be sheets on a regular basis. I do take the sheet requests seriously though and I am really thinking about how to do this.

People occasionally ask me about how to learn playing piano or how to improve their playing. Let me tell you something: Musical expression, arranging pieces, advanced piano technique (or improvisation, for that matter) is no magic, but it is a skill that can be learned systematically just like every other skill can. The one most important thing to do is to get a good teacher. If you can get yourself, let's say, a teaching professional concert pianist who is truly passionate about his music, who doesn't care about wealth or fame, who is constantly attempting to cross his own boundaries and with whom you can resonate, I can promise you that such a teacher will get you farther than anything else will. Of course you can also get decent results if you are self-taught, but this will lead to bottlenecks of which you won't be aware yourself. Also, in the end, you're gonna have to find your own style. The more technical challenges you overcome, the more you will gain the ability to overcome other seemingly insurmountable challenges yourself and find your own solutions for them. This is a skill that is not limited to playing the piano but which involves a specific mindset which allows you to act in a certain way in this world. In this regard, things that seemingly don't have anything to do with playing the piano can help you tremendously with it (e.g. understanding how the brain works, mnemonic techniques, learning and forgetting curves etc.).

i very much admire how quickly you can learn music for the piano and perform it so well with your own touch... i hope that in another 20 years i can light my piano on fire like you do.

Yeah, I don't think there's anyone on here that can play as well as you've shown me (At least on the piano. ViolinTay is Damn good with her FF stuff ^^). I'm hoping for the best, and if anyone deserves a miracle, I'm putting my vote on you.

Three cheers for the music of Verdegrand. I'm hoping you get better soon because the world needs some new Verdegrand pieces

I don't know Verdegrand. I'm sure It's possible to find someone else that got the skills, but every musician has their own signature personality that ebbs and flows in his or her instrument (hah maybe I'm being a bit too poetic). Still man, It's gonna be a drag to slow down (or even being forced to retire) your work. And here I was hoping that someday in the near future you'll back me up in musical department if I ever do short film projects. Looks like that vision is gonna be canned for a while lol.
