Welcome to Temporal Paradox 1 - dedicated to tutorials about using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 & version 9. I use a screen capture program called Snagit and a CAD U37 USB Microphone to record all my tutorials. My name is Derek, but you can call me Dex, Dek or Dexter.

Learning how to work with video files can be very frustrating when you first start out. When I first started out, I often spent hours and days trying to work out the most basic of things. I found that instructional manuals only make sense AFTER you teach yourself how to do something through trial and error. The aim of this channel is simply to pass on what I have learnt so far. I hope that my Tutorials help people escape from the Black Hole of despair and frustration that can destroy your mind.

I don't mind answering questions. Your questions are a great source for new Tutorials. However, ultimately you will have to work things out yourselves through patient experimentation. Always remember that technology does have it's limits and there are often many different ways to get to the same destination.

My main channel is Project Heart Light at:

It is a Spiritual, Metaphysical and
Extra-Terrestrial channel.

TemporalParadox1 At the moment I can't answer your messages. I just moved into a new apartment and it is not working out. My new landlady has literally gone crazy overnight because of dementure. So I am now looking for another new place to live and packing my stuff up all over again. I have no energy left and feel quite depressed. So unfortunately I am struggling to reply to all your comments and questions.

Just came across your page and I'm glad that I did. It has been a little difficult finding good tutorials. I just purchased my first camcorder ever and am looking forward to the world of opportunities it will bring. I stumbled my way through my first video yesterday and can't wait to use some of the new techniques I have already learned here on my next one. Thank you.

You can't do Masking in Vegas Movie Studio.
This is one of the differences between spending $600 or $125.

Thanks a lot for your great tutorials, they've been a huge help. I'm wondering about masking in movie studio platinum 10. I want to freeze frame just a part of an event. I know you can specify the shape of the mask in Vegas pro, but can you also do it in movie studio? Thanks!!

Hi Ben
Thank you for your comments and suggestions.
I am in the middle of moving house at the moment, so I have no time for new tutorials.
Hopefully I can start cranking them out again in the next couple of weeks.
Peace :)

Hi, thanks for your excellent tutorials, i have found them really helpful. As a new user to the Sony Vegas programmes, i had worked out how to do the basics, but you have allowed me to create much more advanced videos.
I would like to request/suggest some tutorials to cover how to do picture in picture effects, and how to use the chroma key feature. Hopefully they will help others as well as myself.
Keep up the good work.

Initially I was using CamStudioPro - don't touch this program, it's terrible and they bombard you with spam emails.
Now I use Snagit which is made by techsmith.com
It costs $50 US and is well worth it - excellent 10/10
