Hello everyone, to all believers and followers of our savior Christ Jesus, and a special hello to fellow parishioners of St. Marys of Westfield.
Welcome to our parish You Tube page!
You might be asking, what is this YOU TUBE thing?
More importantly what is the reason for this web page ministry?
Let me start by quoting the words of our Late Holy Father Pope John Paul II, who when speaking upon the subject of evangelism, stated that, "The Church is missionary by her nature."
When we as Catholics were baptized we were called to be priests, prophets, and kings. We will go into this in more detail when we give a talk on the sacrament of baptism. Why do I bring that up? On the part of being called to be a prophet, we as Christians, as Catholics, have the obligation (not the option) to speak on God's behalf. We are to make known all the great things God has done in Christ. Which brings us back to this call of the Church being a "missionary by her nature."
Jesus says to us, "As the Father sent me, so I send you."
God wants everyone to hear about how he became man, was crucified, died for our sins and our salvation, and rose from the dead. Why?
He wants everyone to know about it, believe in him, come to have a personal relationship with him, and share in the "divine nature" as we read in 2nd Peter, so all may be saved. So what are the intentions of this web page?
First and foremost on this page will be the proclamation of the Gospel. More specifically the Sunday readings and the Homily will be THE feature of this page.
Other pieces we hope and pray to put together, are on the 4 pillars of the teachings of the Catholic Church.
*The Profession of Faith- The creed we proclaim Every Mass
*The Sacraments of the Faith
*Our Life of Faith-Putting into the obedience of Faith as St. Paul states in Romans 1:5
*Life of Prayer-The meaning and importance of prayer
We hope to use these to help clarify misconceptions people have of what they think Catholics believe or what they have been incorrectly taught that Catholics believe.
More importantly to educate the faithful; as Fr. Greg from American Catholic radio says in his weekly piece, "to know our Faith so we can grow in our faith."
Saint Peter tells us in his letter Chapter 3 verse 15, "Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope..."
We as Catholics need to know our Faith in order to explain our Faith to others.
I hope you enjoy this listening and sharing of God's message of forgiveness, healing, and hope for our salvation.
Let me leave you with Jesus' own words. The following is from the Gospel of John Chapter 10 verses 7-10.
So Jesus said again," Amen, Amen, I say to you, I am the gate for the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly."
God Bless!
