About Me:
Ah, YouTube. While I have an internet presence elsewhere, I had tried to avoid getting involved here, first because I'm not an experienced video maker, and second because the YouTube community is so diverse that it's easy to find people with whom to get involved in debate. While I'm all for debate, I cannot help but think of that well-known poster which says that "arguing on the internet is like taking part in the special Olympics - even if you win, you're still retarded". Well, I found myself making comments on various videos, and it was only a matter of time before I started making videos myself.
One of my interests is science, just as a layman, but I have a good understanding of scientific principles, and I feel that one of the dangers to the public understanding of science is religious fundamentalism. I have nothing against religious people, but I do have a lot against the way some of them imagine it's their business to undermine scientific knowledge. Religion belongs in the home and in the church/mosque/synagogue, and it does not belong in science classes. So, I advocate freedom of speech and freedom of thought, but I also advocate the right to reply. I despise all kinds of censorship of ideas, no matter whether or not I agree with those ideas.
