My name is Mickey Adams. Ive been a professional musician for 35 years. Although i began my career as a guitar player, I moved to the Pedal Steel off and on for years. I currently reside in Dallas TX where I work as a professional pilot, and play steel in the House Band, at BillyBobs in the Ft Worth Stockyards. This channel was created in order to offer free guidance to any, and all aspiring steel guitarist. The instrument can be a very complicated one to learn, especially without a little advice..So heres my advice to you in a nutshell. If you approach this instrument with a clean slate, and take the time to learn to play some of the simple patterns labeled BEX on this channel, you will advance more rapidly than you would if you simply try to execute tablature. You need a solid foundation from which to build your skills. Once your right hand gains strength and some coordination, I can help you program more advanced phrases more effectively. Repeating these exercises is something I do on a regular basis, every time I sit down to my guitar, and they make a difference...Repetition is the key. Those things most often repeated are easiest to recall...Its one of the first laws of learning..
Currently I am a dealer and endorsee with Mullen Pedal Steel Guitars. The guitar you see in most of my later videos is an S12 G2 Model with 4 pedals and 5 levers. I am always open to suggestions and comments, and try to respond to all of them as time permits...
I currently have in print a Beginners Guide to Mastering the E9 Pedal Steel Guitar...you can acquire a copy of the book and DVD by writing me directly at Singlpilot@tx.rr.com
Thanks to all of you for your support, and to Del and Mike at Mullen for believing in me...Peace...Mickey
