floor's skin with grace executed
smooth as an angel blade's flick;
grenades in her head and she's about to blow
cigarette smoke and sweat perfume
the air heavy against her
face bleached blank and shiny, like a wax
doll's. Far away eyes should
've been dead by dawn, Club Girl's
a fixture with jittery foundation
she stands poised at the edge, arm
extended with a nuclear pink
cocktail balanced between slender fingers
fresh from the bar's harlot throated first
call, a soft rolling of
the skull and brittle yellow
stalks of hair tumble a-
cross her
trademark hair
tossing gesture to dis-
guise an inventory glance to-
night she's "featuring" her latest fierce waif
diva incarnation, an update debuted
through her custom cut icy
white supatex dress, complete
with latex/patent leather platform
boots, shiny black
plasticene adhesive eyelashes long
as her list of lovers, eyes
helmeted by aquamarine colored
contacts the ghost
impressions of her hang
over seconds between a
kind of time lapse photography which
vomits who she used
to be what she Club
Girl is
not she
speaks through clenched
jaws and a sugar frosted smile
drops names and promises and
pills from her hip pocket into
conversation friends
flimsy as a movie set this
stage of world she
keeps her secrets up
past the night's elastic
stars
