I'm interested in religion (BTW, I'm an atheist agnostic), law, politics, pop culture, and a whole bunch of other stuff. My user name is a vestige of my original reason for opening this account, i.e., to "favorite" (and keep in one convenient location) videos I wanted to show in class about, for example, the Japanese internment during World War II. I came up with a user name that seemed easy to remember. Several months later, I decided to try my hand at making a video and, well, the rest is ... um, 'history' would be too strong a word. ;-)

Since the channel has grown a great deal, it's become difficult to keep up with all the messages and comments. I try to get back to everyone, but often don't get to do so quickly. So please be patient. Thanks.

FAVORITE QUOTATIONS:

"Freedom to differ is not limited to things that do not matter much. That would be a mere shadow of freedom. The test of its substance is the right to differ as to things that touch the heart of the existing order."

"Compulsory unification of opinion achieves only the unanimity of the graveyard."

(The brilliant Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson in the 1943 case West Virginia Board of Education v. Barnette.)

"When any opinion leads us into absurdities, it is certainly false...."

(David Hume in "A Treatise of Human Nature")

"God is dead, but given the way of men, there may still be caves for thousands of years in which his shadow will be shown."

(Friedrich Nietzsche)

"If we praise Jesus by singing all together, it makes this whole exercise seem less bizarre than it really is when you actually stand back and examine it with some objectivity. Amen."

(Hymn from a church service scene on "Family Guy")

"O Moses! You stubborn, splendid, adorable fool!"

(Anne Baxter in "The Ten Commandments")

"Love the believer, not the belief."

(Via one of my subscribers: Wimsweden)

"It is central to the Christian apologist's project to find ways to make the Bible right."

A very nice body of work. Keep up the effort. I am just getting started with some similar videos. (Similar in content, not quality.). I would appreciate any suggestions you can offer.

1:23 They shall call his name Emmanuel - To be called, only means, according to the Hebrew manner of speaking, that the person spoken of shall really and effectually be what he is called, and actually fulfil that title. Thus, Unto us a child is born - and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Prince of Peace - That is, he shall be all these, though not so much nominally, as really, and in effect. And thus was he called Emmanuel; which was no common name of Christ, but points out his nature and office; as he is God incarnate, and dwells by his Spirit in the hearts of his people. It is observable, the words in Isaiah are, Thou (namely, hismother) shalt call; but here, They - that is, all his people, shall call - shall acknowledge him to be Emmanuel, God with us.Which being interpreted - This is a clear proof that St. Matthew wrote his Gospel in Greek, and not in Hebrew. 7:14

I had wondered about the MTH in your screen name, Prof. I now see the answer to my upper left.

Why do atheists work so hard at trying to disprove something you don't believe in? Always makes me wonder if you have doubts about your beliefs.

I just want to add that "GOYIM" is the Biblical Hebrew word for "NATIONS" not "CATTLE". In context, ie. between Jews who are most likely to use it the word, it means [the other] nations.

However, there are a number of times where the Bible itself uses the singular "GOY" (NATION) in reference to the nation of Israel.

The Hebrew word for cattle is "BAKAR".
