For technical recording reference, I use the Samson C01U mic with a pop filter. And for audio mixing, I've been using Mixcraft. To manage recording levels, I've found it easiest to set the recording volume low (~10-15) and use the software compressor on the "vocal" setting.
If you'd like to do a video response to any of the duets, please feel free to ask me for the original MP3 file. That helps reduce the tinniness from double-compression and makes the final mix sound better. Just message me with the song name and your external email and I'll send it along.
