Yes, I recently made my first batch of soap. By guess and by gosh, I did some gestimating at the amount of oil and liquid but used pioneerliving method of soap making. I make herbal salves with beeswax and olive oil and used some older salve that was in my refrig for the oil. I used milk for the liquid. I used my crock pot for melting my base which I purchased from Anne Lee on internet. I noticed early on that my soap took on a gingerbread color after adding the salve with beeswax. Is this normal with a milk soap. After it started to trace, I added dried calendula flower and lavender and added lavender and patchouli essential oil. Then I quickly put it in my mold and popped it in the freezer for an hour. Took out and cut up bars. They are big bars and are brown in color. They are curing now for about a month or so. Loved the process. Want to make more. The Ivory soap base is pretty cool. Why didn't I think of that?
