Everybody has a facade they show to the outside world and hide part of their true personality.
I'm a nice guy, usually, when something or someone doesn't get on my nerves and tries my patience, of which I have little.
ZERO TOLERANCE for racism, religion, cruelty towards animals (torture, poaching)
People need religion because it gives them a (false) sense of security, that stems from their own cowardice, ignorance and misconception about the world around them. They are infantile. They desperately need an imaginary father figure to hold their hand. It's pathetic. And it's spineless.
I'm now fairly convinced that any religious claims, any deities, other supernatural entities and forces do not exist. They were merely human constructs, conceived at a time when we didn't and couldn't know better. Now we can, and do know better.
A deistic position is even more intellectually non-rigorous, wishy-washy, dodgy...etc. than a theistic one. It's an even bigger cop-out, the goal post is simply shifted to the far end.
