London's Screen Archives is a regional network supporting organisations in London that hold collections of moving image material. We aim to preserve and care for the amazing screen heritage of this great film city so that it can be enjoyed by everyone. This site showcases films made in or about London from the earliest days of cinematography to the present. The films are looked after by a wide range of different institutions and the network is growing all the time; please contact us if you would like help or advice on caring for a collection or would like to contribute material to this site.
The LSA YouTube channel is managed by the London Screen Study Collection at Birkbeck College, where many London films are also available to view by appointment. Contact a.english@bbk.ac.uk

shame that so many of your films are in such bad condition. it would help if you did better quality transfers

I think the footage is amazing - so nice to see it here free to access when so much material sits in archives and is never seen - you do have to remember that many archives are very small and have a minimal amount of money for conservation and preservation and that formats such as film and video cost alot of money in equipment and resources to be able to transfer to digital formats - money that most archives do not have - personally I would rather see these films up here in this condition than not at all - well done whoever keeps putting these up - don't let these negative comments put you off providing us access to this fantastic footage!!!
