guyfroml, you couldn't be more wrong about how this is being perceived across the country. i can't speak for either coast, but i can speak for myself, my family and friends in chicago - we loved it. we appreciated an extremely well educated viewpoint being articulated in a justifiably angry and vulgar voice.

check out john goodman's latest performance. i hope he's wrong, and i hope you don't see this as self serving too.

btw, the man made catastrophe references the army corp's insistence on dominating nature, instead of trying to work with it. as someone from L, you should know the story on this

The scene was self-serving and didn't win over anyone else around the country - at least that's the feedback I'm getting from friends from coast to coast. "It depicted New Orleanians as being ignorant" is a typical comment I received.

Also, when they keep crying "flooding was a man-made disaster"...can someone explain what is meant by that? How quickly we forget it was OUR state leaders who demanded the federal government construct a levee system - that was the first mistake.

No agency (Army Corp) makes the same screw ups for over 50 years! This was nothing but murdering people to make way for oil drilling in lower la. and developers

Good job, Goodman! "Walls don't lie..." Similar ( though much smaller ) natural disaster occurred on the
Western coast of France, end of Feb 2010. The govt is already dispersing funds and is in the process of
rebuilding. It is not perfect, but neither is it almost 5 years later, as in NO...Bon courage!

In 80's I took evidence to Assistant US Attorney Curtis Collier about dangerous substandard materials & shoddy workmanship on Levee. I dare you Army Corps of Engineers to challenge my statements of your acceptance of bribes from contractors! Ask L Palmisano, T Demuye, & JW Fisher of the LB Foster Equipment Co (Marquette). They know where some of the weak Levee sections are located and could save lives in the future if they would only fess up! There is so much more to learn and know about all the corruption and those involved, including politicians, officials and contractors! Investigate and seek the truth people of New Orleans! Those Levees are like termite infested wooden structures in N.O. and all down the Gulf Coast. Protect yourselves and do NOT trust the Army Corps of Engineers who accepted bribes and caused thousands of people to die.
