After years of studying the behavior of Scientology's management, I've come to the conclusion that it is worse than I ever imagined - how it gets away with so much, abusing the law, separating families, harassing critics, scamming people financially, recruiting people with? false promises ... it is much more reminiscent a cult.

The IRS struck a 1993 deal with the Church of Scientology that allows Scientologists to deduct the cost of training and auditing, a form of religious education, which means that all religious tuition should be deductible.
In "Hernandez v. Commissioner Internal Revenue Service (1989)" the Supreme Court decided Scientology was not entitled to a tax exemption. The real question here is just where the IRS got the authority to override a Supreme Court decision by executive fiate in 1993, as it sure didn't come from the Constitution of the United States.

Justice Latey for the London High Court, Queens Bench Family Division had this to say in his summation of an action brought before him involving custody of children related to a scientologist:

"Scientology is both immoral and socially obnoxious...It is corrupt sinister and dangerous. It is corrupt because it is based on lies and deceit and has its real objective money and power for Mr. Hubbard..

The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (commonly referred to as RICO Act or RICO) is a United States federal law that provides for extended penalties for criminal acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization.
