For me, Dave's solo music will always be linked with Gerry Rafferty's amazing solo album "City to City" from 1978. Sadly, Gerry Rafferty just passed away in January. Search youtube for "Gerry Rafferty The Ark" for my favorite song on the album - though "Baker Street" was the super-hit. So much great music from the mid 70's, 80's: Paul Simon, Hall & Oats ("Abandon Luncheonette" being my favorite album) - the out of nowhere "Klaatu" (who everyone thought was the Beatles re-united!

This is an area where one of the Gates model billionaires (who have promised to use their fortunes to make a difference) could make a mark by developing a model of change. Just as Andrew Carnegie extended access to libraries for working people all over the world, someone (or a group) with very deep pockets could help transform the educational model to fit the new reality of learning differences.
Home schooling is also an option, but getting people to reign in their need/desire to work outside??

This reminds me of W Edwards Deming and his approach; there are clips of him up.
He is the American who taught the Japanese how to produce quality products in the 1950's as we rebuilt their economy after WW II. When he approached American companies with his take on "TQM" & working on improving the processes of production to eliminate variation, American managers were not interested,
Finally in the 1980's The Ford Motor Company started instituting his methods. The results show today vs GM etc.

Silent Monks Singing Halleluia

On Madison Street it was taking 2 hours for cars to go less than 2 miles from downtown. Look at Seattle in Google Maps. This is E John St & 14th Ave E. All the other streets are narrower and steeper - or they do not go all the way through. in fact, only one street in Seattle goes all the way from East to West through the city and that is Madison Street.

I hear that! Unless you go to Rollag MN!, but all the roads are gravel...
I've been here in Seattle 20+ years now and have come to really enjoy snow - at least the 5 or 6 times we have had meaningful snowfall. Here in Seattle we mostly admire snow up in the mountains all year round, but rarely need to shovel or drive in it!
Last week felt like the old storm days in Hawley!

I think that all great songwriters have songs come through them, rather than from them. The ideas are shaped by the artists observations of humanity. Getting to the point where the concepts are translated to the words takes a mind that is open to it.
A gift; a sentence to use it.
