I have made these videos to outline what a student must do to achieve their maximum score on the written portion of the IELTS exam. If you are a first time visitor to this page and are looking for help with your essay writing, I suggest you first view the videos in my '(Lesson 1) IELTS Task 1 and 2 structure' playlist before commencing the other videos. These outline videos give a good overview of what is involved when writing an essay, letter or Academic Task 1 response and will allow you to fully understand the process I work through in the other videos.
If you are serious about taking your writing to the next level and scoring well on the written portion of the IELTS exam, I suggest you consider purchasing the eBooks I have written outlining what you need to know to be successful on Tasks 1 and 2. 'Dear Ryan,
My exam is tomorrow. I need to get a 7. What do you suggest I do?'
I get asked this question (or a variation of it) all the time. If you are studying at the last minute for your examination there is very little I can do to help you besides offer you this advice: As a general rule, remember the key to writing effectively and convincingly in your exam is to maintain short, concise sentences connected with effective cohesive phrases. Your essay should be many individual parts all working together to support, prove, discuss, analyze, refute or compare an idea(s).
