Live recorded music and musings from the Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival and other events featuring artists like the Band of Gnawa, Baaba Maal, Ray Lema, Loy Erlich, Louis Bertignac, Maalem Abdelsam Alikane, Cheik Tidiane Seck, Hoba Hoba Spirit, Maalem Hassan Bousso, Maalem Mahmoud Guinea, Daby Toure, and many, many more.

When I started, this channel was audio-only, but since May 2008, I've mainly been posting videos. Music quality however is still my key criterion.,
Here's a brief summary of the vids I've posted since I started this channel in 2007. (P) indicates that a playlist is available.
2010 Madness at the Glastonbury Extravaganza (P)
2010 Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival (P)
2010 Winchester Hat Fair
2009 Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival (P)
2009 - Music in Wiinchester (P)
2008 Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival
2008 San Jose Jazz Festival (P)
2008 Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival - audio only

Sorry to all the Van the Man fans who enjoyed his 2007 concert in Glastonbury, but VAN MORRISON / POLYDOR have removed these videos. Ah well - it was only a matter of time - I suppose.

It's not that I'm anti-social or unsocial, I just don't get off on other people's ego trips (in truth, I have enough trouble looking after my own), so, if you ask me to me a friend and I don't respond, don't worry - it's not about you - OK, it really is about you - I'm just not playing the same game.

On the other hand, If it seems like we have things in common, e.g. you like jazz, rock, blues, GNAOUA, or just if it seems that you have that quirkyness that appeals, then don't hesitate. I'll tell you thgou, if I go to your site and see that you've received numerous comments in the past few hours thanking you profusely for offering your "friendship", then pardon me if I ignore you. OK?

I have started a blog at http://daftnotstupid.blogspot.com to record my comments on the recent Essaouira 2007 Gnaoua and World Music Festival. My first posting talks about Maalem Abdeslam Alikane playing with Tyour Gnaoua and Ray Lema (Guitar, Keyboards Congo), Adellah El Miry (Violin Morocco), Soriba Kouyate (Kora Senegal) and Cyril Atef (Drums France Iran) at the Essaouira 2007 Gnaoua and World Music Festival in June 2007.

Whether you were there or not, why not take a look and add your views too?
