MoveOn.org organized a rally and office visit to LAMEborn's office Tuesday over the debt ceiling vote and then he shot off his mouth the Friday before and the rally took on 2 meanings.
Dan Nordberg, one of his office staffers met with the group and this is some edits from that meeting with "B" roll inserts of the rally.
One of his opponents for his seat was there. Bob Evans is a history professor at Colorado College, and running for the CD5 seat. He said Lamborn's use of "tar baby" is "absolutely inexcusable." And "This is not who we want to represent us. This is not the real El Paso County".
Former House District 17 representative Dennis Apuan was also there.
Rosemary Harris Lytle, president of the Colorado Springs chapter of the NAACP, pointed out the obvious: the phrase "tar baby" is too well known to excuse LAMEborn's non-apology apology, although that's just what the GAGzette's editorial writer did, along with his mob of reichwing minions that lurk on the paper's website all day every day.
Ms. Harris-Lytle said, "The world already views us (El Paso County) as ultra conservative, ultra right wing, Tea-Party-loving, gay bashing, an epicenter of hate. With two vitriolic words, our own Congressman again sealed our fate".
Diane Allen-Philips, president of the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region, said what many, including a member of the MoveOn.org rally said to his staffers, "If Barack Obama was not African American, would he have used the same terminology?"

El Paso County Democrats joined members of the Colorado Springs LGBT community for a news conference on the steps of Colorado Springs City Hall Tuesday afternoon, July 12 to condemn recent hate crimes in the city.
This is tape of some of that rally.
On July 3, two male and 1 female dancer at a local gay night club, along with 1 male and 1 female security guard were at a fast-food restaurant after work.
2 of the 5 gay people were veterans.
5 men and 2 women who came into the Albertacos restaurant and began yelling gay slurs. The assailants allegedly didn't like the way one of the victims was dressed. There was some pushing and shoving and the gay people tried to leave and go to their car.
The group followed them into the parking lot and beat them bloody. One person had to have his jaw wired shut, one had bruised ribs, and one had two black eyes.
Neither the mayor nor the city council will sign a resolution denouncing hate crime and neither will issue a proclamation acknowledging this weekend's PrideFest celebration.
4 such incidents were investigated by the Colorado Springs Police Department in 2009 and 2010 and many more went unreported.
Write the city council and mayor and tell them to sign the proclamation against hate crimes:

This was July 3, 2011: the Bear Creek Canyon Fire up on High Drive off Upper Gold Camp Road in Colorado Springs. Some footage of the valiant public service employees from local, county, state and federal fire fighting teams risking their lives, like every other day, to protect our lives and property.
SO, the next time they're around protecting your life and property walk up to one, tap them on the shoulder and say: "I'm a TEAbagger and I don't believe in public employees; I don't think you should be paid a living wage; I don't think you should have a pension, benefits, healthcare insurance or be able to join a union!"
THEN, head down to your local gang-war shootout and walk up to the first police officer you see, tap him or her on the shoulder and say: "I'm a TEAbagger and I don't believe in public's right to tax itself to "provide for the common defense"; I think you're paid too much to risk your life for me; I think your police association is just a union and unions are commie-nist!"
THEN, head over to the community hospital, walk in, find a nurse, tap her or him on the shoulder and say, "I'm a TEAbagger and I think all medical care should be done by for-profit hospitals run by for-profit HMO corporations with the worst possible care, since 467th n the world isn't bad enough and I think nurses deserve the worst pay, the worst conditions with every corner cut for profit and I think nurses are overpaid to save my life!"
THEN, head over to the nearest school, walk in, find a 5th grade class and tell that teacher "I'm a TEAbagger and I think all schools should be private, for-profit institutions run by multinational corporations with very strict enrollment criteria that eliminates half of all children and that teachers and their unions are commie lib'ruls that deserve no living wage, health benefits or a pension!"
THEN ask the class of 5th graders if John Wayne was born in Bachmann's hometown OR if the first shot of the War of Independence was shot in New Hampshire OR if Bachmann is correct that "hundreds of scientists holding Nobel Prizes believe in intelligent design" OR ask them if Palin is right that Paul Revere was warning the British OR if the Affordable Care Act includes "death Panels" OR if she's a hypocrite for being against the ACA when her family used to go across the border to Canada to get healthcare.
THEN ask the kids if article 1, section 8 of the constitution contains a commerce clause that enumerates federal control of interstate commerce like healthcare insurance.
THEN ask the kids if Thomas Jefferson said: "The Tree of Liberty must occasionally be watered with the blood of a democratically-elected majority enacting the will of the people with the consent of the governed".
THEN ask the kids if Boehner is right that the preamble of the constitution says "We hold these truths to be self evident ..." OR is that the Declaration of Independence.
THEN ask the kids if the 14th amendment says "The validity of the public debt of the United States, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services, shall not be questioned."
No, they aren't qualified to be president but neither are YOUR TEAbagging candidates.

One of our new developer-puppet city councilpersons, Tim Leigh (Hoff & Leigh) was interviewed this week by Daniel Chacon of the local daily and he reports he said the following:
"Erindale is apparently being overrun with deer"

Well, we say that the people of our town need to tell this vicious, violent councilperson to keep his hands and guns OFF OUR DEER.
July 12 Update:
At city council this afternoon 3 residents of Erindale and a DoW officer spoke on the issue. Councilman Leigh said he had taken it upon himself to research private professional bow hunters that would come and chum the deer into 1 spot and slaughter them. No on mentioned just using any of the deer repellents available, soap, dryer cloths, urine, pepper, moth balls, etc. that all work.

As part of the Windrider Film Forum at Colorado College, the documentary, "Freedom Riders" was shown.
Freedom Rider Ivor "Jerry" Moore, who was 19 years old when his group of buses was attacked in Anniston and Birmingham, Alabama, was the featured speaker and he also gave a concert in Acacia Park that afternoon.
Ivor "Jerry" Moore was part of the original 1961 Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) Freedom Ride, joining the ride in Sumter, SC on May 11. He was present at the Klan-organized riot on May 14 at the Birmingham Trailways Bus Station.
The son of a Baptist minister from the Bronx, Moore had already been involved in several sit-ins and marches against segregation as a student at Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina before participating in the Freedom Rides.
After graduating from college in 1964, he became a folk and rock musician in Greenwich Village and Woodstock, NY. Moore moved to Los Angeles in 1980, where he conducted street ministry for drug addicts and the homeless, taught computer skills, and coordinated church outreach activities.
Freedom riders were civil rights activists who rode interstate buses into the segregated southern United States to test the United States Supreme Court decision Boynton v. Virginia in 1960. Boynton v. Virginia had outlawed racial segregation in the restaurants and waiting rooms in terminals serving buses that crossed state lines.
On May 14, Mother's Day, in Anniston, Alabama, a mob of Ku Klux Klan attacked the first of the two buses and slashed its tires. They forced the crippled bus to stop several miles outside of town, and it was firebombed shortly afterwards by the mob chasing it in cars.
As the bus burned, the mob held the doors shut, intent on burning the riders to death. An exploding fuel tank caused the mob to retreat, allowing the riders to escape the bus. The riders were viciously beaten as they fled the burning bus, and only warning shots fired into the air by highway patrolmen prevented the riders from being lynched.
