Please check out our favorites list and our vintage Burger Chef commercial from back in the day. This is a great example of a typical Burger Chef and Jeff ad promo aired to promote the new Fun Burger. We bought many of these 25 cent deals back in the early 1970s. Simply seeing that box brings back so many cherished memories of childhood and all my neighborhood friends. We would all go around and collect empty soda bottles to get the 5 cent deposits to raise enough for our burgers, fries and drinks. My thanks to lowellriggsiam for posting this one.
I am just an average Internet surfer who has really become a huge fan of the YouTube retro 1950s-1970s stuff. My YouTube name comes from the fact that one of my favorite memories was eating with my friends at the old Burger Chef chain that lasted into the 1990s. I like vintage pop, rock, disco tunes and classic/1980s and 1990s R&B.
Night after night, I sit and spend time finding anything and everything. There seems to be no end to what is out there. Time really seems to fly by once you are busy Tubing. Through all my searching, my favorites are just a random sampling of the types of music and things that I enjoy. As you will clearly see, my taste are all over the charts with a wide range of diversity, including early recording Edison wax cylinders.
As for my off YouTube life, I am also into vintage advertising all the way back to the early 1900s. The music, design, advertising, and everything from the 1950s-1970-s (including cars) had such unique personality, unlike today's newer look alike stuff.
Thanks to YouTube, millions of us Tubers have been able to locate songs we have been searching to find for over the past few decades. YouTube is an astounding archive of almost anything from days gone by. Its a great way to preserve history and introduce new people to the sights and sounds of a simpler time in America.
As for historical purposes, YouTube also helps us research things for other interests, such as history. I really enjoy the history of retail and advertising. I love the neon light era and old retail stores from days gone by. There was nothing like the old dime stores, such as Kresge's, Woolworth's, Newberry's and etc.
In addition to music, many of us Tubers adore classic TV shows and old product commercials. Who can forget "I'm a Pepper, He's a Pepper, We're a Pepper" and "Two All Beef Patties, Special Sauce, Lettuce, Cheese, Pickles, Onions on a Sesame Seed Bun??" We've all had Kodak moments, and Sometimes We Feel like a Nut and Sometimes We Don't. Jingles and phrases like that will live on forever, hold great social impact, change our culture and really help sell a product.
In short, I am a music and nostalgia buff who would love to share similar interests with other retro fan YouTubers out there.
