(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Roger Dickinson (D-Sacramento) convened a joint hearing of the Committees on Accountability & Administrative Review and Water, Parks & Wildlife to review the process surrounding the state's unprecedented move to shut down 70 of its 279 state parks and to provide an update on efforts around the state to keep parks open. "The Committees obtained a better understanding of the ramifications of closing a quarter of our state parks -- few people and few communities will not be touched by the loss of a favorite retreat or a vibrant piece of their local economy," Dickinson said. We also heard about innovative ways in which communities are attempting to keep parks open." (Sacramento) - In his latest video eNewsletter, California State Assemblymember Rich Gordon (D-Menlo Park) talks about the legislation he introduced over the past year that was signed into law. Assemblymember Gordon says more than three-quarters of the legislation he introduced was deemed worthy by the Assembly, Senate and Governor. Still, Assemblymember Gordon says he knows there's more to do and he wants everyone in the 21st Assembly District to let him know what issues they want addressed by state lawmakers.
