Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki was born in New Mexico, USA. His parents are from Yemen where he lived for eleven years and received the early part of his Islamic education. Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki has served as an Imam in Colorado, California, and Washington D.C. Currently he resides in Yemen. He has studied under the well known noble Shuyukh including Shaykh Saleh Mohammed ibn Uthaymeen. Currently he resides in Yemen. Claims were made by the American and Yemeni governments that sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki was killed in US airstrike in Yemen in 2009. However, in early 2010, this claim was refuted when the sheikh sent a message to America and the world calling for a revival and Jihad against America and its allies. A video (released by Al-Qaeda's media branch in Yemen) featuring an exclusive interview with the sheikh soon followed. Later, Al-Qaeda vowed to protect imam Anwar Al-Awlaki at all costs. May Allah protect him from the hands of evil and grant him a place in the highest levels of Jannah.

Al-Malahim (Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's media branch), has released a new video featuring an exclusive interview with Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki! The interview has since been translated to English by Dar Al Murabiteen Publications - Translation Department and compiled into an English-translated version of the video interview by The Muslim Defence Force. Later, the Global Islamic Media Front released an official English-translated version of the interview.

Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has released a message vowing to defend our beloved sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki at all costs! The speaker is Sheikh Nasir al-Wuhaishi (Abu Baseer), a commander in Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.
