Hi. Who are you? :) I'm an "old western dinosaur" whom is every bit as exasperated with the decline of American culture as C.S. Lewis ever was with the decline of English culture.
However, Clyde Staples Lewis is dead and I am not. Just don't ask me which of us is better off--I am still debating that one (my guess is Lewis, since he is with God).
So, as I observe the continual decline of the West, what better place to wile away some of my free time than YouTube? Where ordinary westerners increasingly put themselves on display for the whole world to see.
Happily, I find some uplifting material here upon occasion. :)
Unhappily, most of it just reinforces my conviction that for the West, the best is already behind us. WAY behind us. Like, pre-1962 behind us.
Basically, by the time I was born, the West was already into a decline. :(
What future Edward Gibbons will get to write at great length about America's inevitable fall, and may I order an Advance Copy?
Thank you. Or at least the Cliff Notes...
PS No, the East isn't any better. It's far WORSE. The only hope for Civilization was in the Christian West.. and we pissed our Christian heritage away decades ago (a process still underway, headed by educators and politicians and media people of all stripes, all of them working ceaselessly, never stopping until every trace of Christianity is expunged from public memory), in favor of regressing back 3,000 years toward ancient Greece.
And the more things change, the more they stay the same. :(
Country: United States
Occupation: Writer, wage slave.
Companies: God's Love Inc.
Interests and Hobbies: Christian apologetics; History; politics; current events; religion; people in general.
Movies and Shows: Ben-Hur, and other Charlton Heston titles. 'Titanic' made me cry though, God help me. :/ I hate when movies make me cry. It feels like my emotions are being manipulated. I'd rather cry for real people any day, dontcha see. And there is no shortage of things to cry about, where real people are concerned.
Music: Christian music. Also Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and other secular music from my youth.
Books: The Bible. Anything by Stephen King even though I disdain the horror genre (King just writes too well to pass up). The works of C.S. Lewis and Francis Schaeffer. Tom Clancy's works. Augustine's writings. Umpteen thousand other titles and subjects I won't bore you with.
I enjoy ur comment;-) Thanks...U have a special way of expressing urself which I really love ;-)
peace
It is difficult to present decent debate in the 500 or less boxes and very easy to lose one's temper in the face of curses insults and threats, and very easy to maintain contempt and anger instead of acting in a way to be emulated.
I don't agree with all your comments but I appreciate the spirit.
Thank you
ps the Great C.S Lewis was a Belfast man as is myself
George W. Bush needed to be more like Abe Lincoln. Instead, he tried being like his daddy, and kissing the donkey's asses, and it never helped either him or America. It only hurt us. Only when Bush has openly defied the Dems (like in Iraq) has anything good ever been accomplished.
Happy Thanksgiving friend. All the best to you and your family.
Reality IS what it IS. In classical western education, every attempt was made through education to impart truth. OBJECTIVE truth. Truth which withstood the rigors of time, evidence, logic, examination and cross-examination...
How ironic that in today's western schools, teachers tell their students there IS no truth. "What is truth?" they basically sneer, like modern day Pontius Pilates. "People CREATE truth," they claim. "What's true for me isn't true for you. Truth is simply perception."
Sickening. Anti-intellectualism in its rawest, ugliest form. Most educators today do not deserve the title. They are not worthy. They are fools, liars, both incapable of logic and eschewing the fact logic even exists, or matters. :(
