What is everybody's favourite RT song?

dkyrus: I hate to be so predictable, but Vincent Black Lightening is my all time fave. There are so many vying for second place that it's not fair to choose, but off the top of my head, maybe I Misunderstood. That's not even to get into the whole Richard + Linda catalog, of course!

What's your favourite RT cover version?

timskyrme: Lay down your weary tune lay down, very early Fairport cover of an obscure Bob song, sung by RT and Sandy Denny, it lifts me up every time i hear it.

monalisadreams: I've heard several lovely versions of "Shenandoah" (Van Morrison's comes to mind). However, there is no better-suited voice than RT's to evoke the song's yearning and timeless beauty. Makes me tear up every time I hear Richard's cover of my favorite American folk song.

What are your favorite RT lyrics?

caheydon: Aside from his tremendous musical talent, one of the things that I think really sets Richard apart is the intelligence and cleverness of his lyrics. What are your favorites?

caheydon: From "Dad's Gonna Kill Me": At least we're winning on the Fox Evening News Nobody's dying if you speak double-speak (The first one's gotten a lot of attention, but I really like the second one. Both are the last lines of their respective verses, so he sings them both with a lot of energy.) From "Sunset Song": In the hallway, there's my suitcase By the door, I never did unpack In just these two simple lines, RT really captures the transient nature of the song's protagonist.

So will it be possible to actually CRITIQUE his music here? Or will be restricted to pure adulation?

bonzodog10: Not one for adulation myself. There is a lot of stuff RT play`s that i do not like but some of his song`s i would put in my all time top 50.

cornleius: I would imagine that its all down to how you feel about it. With a career this long and with such a wide base of influences It would be amazing if everyone loved everything. So I am sure there will be disagreements over the best/worst albums songs, performances production etc... as for critique..depends how serioulsy you mean. I'm not qualified to comment on much of the technical stuff..its really down to if I like it or not. The beauty of any art is its subjectivity :)
