Hi Sir, I did a Mix of your Audio you attached to your latest Audio video. I have a bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering and Sound Production at SAE Melbourne Australia, also 15 years experience with Audio/Sound. I have done Post Audio Production work for a Company by the name of the WoolShed Company, I have done sound design, Post Mixing and Location Sound Recordist for them. Here are 2 files of your video's Mixed Audio, one with a Limiter which brings the overall level up near to 0dBFS without Clipping, the other is somewhat around the original level but I didn't level match as I did this fairly quickly. Cheers Limiter: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28244147/Basic%20Filmmaker%20%28WITH%20LIMITER%29.wav No Limiter: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/28244147/Basic%20Filmmaker%20%28NO%20LIMITER%29.wav Let me know if you like what I have done and if Curtis Judd isn't able to be your Post Audio guy I would love the opportunity, that is if you like my work, I can always tailor more towards your needs if you want things changed. Thanks Michael

Hi , i really like the lightning that you using for your videos , is it possible to build good lightning equipments at home for a low budget project ?
    Basic Filmmaker
Yep. Not hard at all, although I think you could get a nice 3-point lighting kid for under a $100.

Love your stuff, I teach guerrilla filmmaking here at Union College in Lincoln, NE and I have my students watch your videos in class.

Thanks and Wow! That's cool. Would love it if I could get a photo of them watching an episode in class (maybe the backs of their heads so no legal stuff - or whatever and to heck with lawyers) and maybe I could do a surprise shout out in a couple weeks to them. Just a cute thought. :)

Dear Basic Filmmaker, firstly, thank you for the effort you put into your videos. We really appreciate every video you post. My question is this. I have an up and coming team meeting somewhere in the US in November, possibly Florida or Vegas. I would like to propose to our team of around 150 that we do some one on one interviews and group interviews through the days in a friendly documentary style to add to our internal web sites and publish some on our external web sites. I will get "probed" if I lug all my Panasonic M 4/3 gear through customs so I have two important questions. For rough budgetary estimates, considering that I am not familiar with the US Camera rental market, what can I expect to pay for 4 days worth of use of at least 3 GH4's with 35-100 F2.8 lenses, one or two Zoom 8 recorders, two boom mics and a few remote lapel mics and some LED lights. Some of the footage will be in 4K but the majority will be in HD. If I left anything out please let me know but this will not be a professional setup as that is not the expectation. My key concerns are how to get the equipment to site and return the equipment as I have no experience in the rental market. The second question is should I stick with what I know and insist on Panasonic M 4/3 gear or be open minded and take whatever gear is on offer for the most cost effective price? Also, would you consider a video on best practices for an informal interview style video? Thanks again and keep posting as we will keep watching!

    Thanks for the info Paul/Ray!

Hi Paul, thanks for the advice and thank you for reminding me regarding work permits. I have been practicing my interview workflow in Premiere Pro and I am traveling light with a GX80 with a 1.4 SMC Pentax manual lens and a 14-42 and 12-32 Panasonic lens with 3 tiny mobius camera's for B roll. I have a Tascam DR70D for sound and two travel Monfrotto tripods. I also have a few industrial suction cup and other mounts. I have 3 portable LED units and two 3x3m green screens. It's been a learning experience, that's for sure. Mr Basic Filmmaker makes it all looks so easy until it's your turn. Good fun though and I started this journey less than a year ago after finding this channel. :-)

howdy sir, I was hooking my rode mic up to my 5d mark3 just to get a better 2nd source and it dosent seem to be any different in sound than not using it. I was wondering if theres a setting in the menu I need to change. I changed the setting from the video you made . I also use a zoom h5 for primary audio but I want a good back up "rode mic" to have just incase.

    Basic Filmmaker
Well, you need to read the manual t do that, and adjust your input audio on the camera. Try setting the audio input on the camera like to one notch elow nothing, and adjust that.  Also make sure to check out the H5 manual on doing this, or visit the Zoom site. I just don't do that, if I get a chance, I'll hook my H6 into m5 Mark III and see what happens.
    Mike Sparks
yup, up on the cold shoe, into the camera

Very nice page! A question, how do you get your groups of videos to go down your page vertically? All I can manage to do is have the playlists line up horizontally. Thanks!!

    Sebastian Tiplea
Hi, I am following your videos from the beginning of your channel and I wonder if I could challenge you to do a special video as I see you as a professional trustworthy person going through all aspects of a subject. Basically I am intrigued by a video I saw where a guy has adapted one of these new "power banks" to charge a DSLR by using a dummy battery. I don't intend to advertise this guy's video but you can find it by searching on YT for "power bank on dslr" by Chris. Apparently  these can increase the camera's availability to 10-20 hours, depending on the power of the battery. I got lost in the technical details, what Voltage is necessary to charge my Canon 600D, what exact dummy battery... Would you like to open our brains on how to and should we do this? Thanks,. Sebastian
    Sebastian Tiplea
+Basic Filmmaker Thanks and I am looking forward for it.
    Basic Filmmaker
+Sebastian Tiplea Hi Sebastian! When I am usually shooting for personal stuff, like this channel, there is no way I need that many hours. I have a battery grip and use Canon batteries and get quite a few hours. For larger longer length stuff, I use very high end gear and don't worry about power. But, you certainly should link the video here so people can see what you are talking about. In fact, I'll do it...Chris has a nice channel and this video is pretty cool. Thanks!!! https://youtu.be/4OXD3ENA_UA

hello. I am a highschool film student, and I recently purchased a Rode Videomic rycote lyre microphone. the camera I use is a Canon Rebel T5. the microphone chord does not fit in the audio jack for my camera, but i was planning on using an audio recorder anyway. I have a tascam DR-05 recorder, but I'm not sure if the recorder is picking anything up from the microphone. How could i know for sure if it works?
    Basic Filmmaker
+Maria French The Rode should definitely go into the camera. Regardless, press record and watch the level meters on the Tascam.

My budget is 3 to 4 million. I want one for my camera professionala Best Short Film will please tell me what that camera. For example, Sony, canon 5d Mark 3/4, 1dx, canon (c) series, Red pricedrops: Scarlet-X,
    Basic Filmmaker
I would rent the gear for this film, if that is your budget. I would never ever consider buying a bunch of camera gear that I didn't have experience on, unless I hire a real DP who knew what he was doing. If I had a real DP, I would ask him what cameras we need for the film we were making.

    Fer Cast
Hi BF, I have a Nikon D600 and a Tamron 24-70mm VC lense. What would be your recommendation for the correct AF settings to take a nice video at a church wedding and the reception party. I tryed them all and can't seem to get a nice smooth focused and sharp picture!!! Love your videos, great help!!!!! Thanks.
    Basic Filmmaker
+Fer Cast Hey there! Big question. First, I would not use Auto Focus (AF) ever for something important. Are you filming this and behind the camera? If so, you should be setting the ISO, Focus, speed and aperture manually. Do you have some video I can look at? That would help better answer the question, as I may not be totally getting what you are asking here. You can also look at my playlist and check out the focus series. Let me know. :)
