I don't know if it's just me or... Other people agree, but these new THUMBNAILS?? What is literally up with them? Your thumbnails nowadays look like forced Grade 7 technology class project picture or something. I really don't understand why you needed to change your thumbnails styles like this. Previously, your thumbnails were calm and just, really only what was necessary. But these thumbnails are exaggerated and overstating with your “Surprised faces” or whatever the impression you were trying to deliver with your “sexible” pose. Just take out “you guys” out of the thumbnails? I see no purpose or anything helpful from you guys. Really, just the thumbnail for the <5 Products NO ONE Asked For> video was good enough, and unnecessary appearance of your employees or Linus, is just distractive.
I’m sorry if the ideas from this “statement” or “complaint” are all over the places and is difficult to understand, it is not polished and I can’t write such well-organized statements with sophisticated words due the what I’d call a ‘lack’ of attention during English classes or whatever, but my point is:
The new styles of LTT video thumbnails with the inclusions of unnecessary appearances of LTT employees or Linus only serve the effect of being distractive and no other purpose, thus the previous styles of thumbnails with just the product and ppl only in necessary cases (Like VR equipped whomever from PSVR video) was personally way better and wish that LTT will go back to creating the previous style thumbnails.
New episode idea, I would like to see benchmarks on different configurations for CAD programs, ie Solid Works/AutoCAD. I have read numerous forums that don't agree on what is the best bang for the buck and over all performance of the current and former gtx vs quadro line. I am personally vested as I am responsable for building or buying PC's for engineers, and I was curious if I could go with the much more affordable gtx/i Series lines vs the quadro/Xeon lines. Either way the show is very well done and has been a treat to watch for some time now.
The reason SolidWorks is so bad on the GTX line is that it uses OpenGL. Workstation grade cards are indeed optimized for OpenGL. However, if you use a software like Autodesk Inventor, which uses DirectX, you will certainly get better performance with the GTX line for the same price. So, it really depends on what software you use.
In my experience with CAD, Solidworks is the only real student level software that is affected by this. Mainly, it is the expensive older cad softwares like CATIA that use OpenGL and basically require workstation cards for doing anything quickly. The flip side is that the performance from a GTX card shouldn't be lower than half or 1/3rd in OpenGL. So if you throw a 1070 or even 1080 at the problem, you should get decent results for a similar price with the added benefit of good gaming performance. Also, having a strong single thread performance cpu can make up for a lot in the graphics department.
I agree. I finally broke down and got the Lenovo P50. In my SoildWorks class students with gtx series graphics cards start to slow and crash with only a few 3D models pulled up. Once you get into assemblies of parts they must use the computer labs.
Does anyone remember about that one sponsor that Linus had where they would somewhat pay you to play video games or try out certain services for them? If so please tell me the name really wanna try it out.
We are all curious and therefore, must have a video showing us the new AMD AM4 & Rysen vs Intel Z270 & KabyLake - WHILE using an NVMe M.2 SSD like, for example, the Samsung 960 to see which system makes the best use of the new NVMe SSD's.
