This channel is phenomenal, good work sir. In a previous video you posted, when you had been flying formation in Chipmunks you had mentioned your Grandfather being a Spitfire pilot. That prompted me to dig into some research about my Grandpa who flew Liberators out of Gander, Newfoundland. After going through his logbook and checking sources online I think I've managed to locate two different partial airframes that he had flown, on display in museums in the United States. It's probably something I never would have found if I had not come across this Youtube channel.
    FlightChops
+Dynamic LongBranch - very cool! Thanks for sharing your story. And yes, I am working toward flying a Spitfire like my grandfather did... It's going to be a long journey :)

You've done some great videos, Sir. I'm impressed with the site, and inspired to do some shooting from my own airplane. Thanks!

    +Robert Erdos Thanks!

Hi FlightChops - my son & I will start PPL lessons this summer. Can you do a video about best practices of GoPro recording, mounting, etc? Also how do the CFIs and aircraft owners feel about the recording and mounting ? We want to record so we can review after lesson - it will help us learn more. Thanks !
    FlightChops
+Carpenter Family - enjoy your training! Best bet for filming set up is to check with the aircraft owner and instructor. Be sure your set up is not a distraction, and consider very carefully before you publish anything.

    Samuel Browne
    Awesome thanks dude 😉

Awesome to hear that! Congrats and stay in touch through your training - there will be challenging times, but keep at it and you'll get it done!

Hey Flightchops, just wanted you to know I love your videos. I'm not a pilot currently but have always loved aviation since I was a kid. Hope to get my license one day when I am financially able. Thanks and keep the videos coming!!
    FlightChops
Right on! Thanks! And yes, it is a challenge to get the training funded sometimes, but well worth it to follow the dream!

I SUB'd! Love the videos man. Have you gotten your IFR? I just did my solo xcrounty @ 16 hours last weekend!
    FlightChops

Hey Steve. I was looking for videos from your recent visit to the West Coast. I found the helicopter one .... most excellent ... I thought you did some flying with the Gravel Bar Cowboys out of Langley? Anything on that? BTW, student pilot myself, learning to fly on a C150 Tailwheel. Thanks for your videos!
    FlightChops
Very cool. And yes, at any given time, I am months behind what I film VS what I finish editing and publish. Look for that BC content to continue trickling out among other content over the winter. I am currently editing one that was shot fling around the Toronto airspace with an air traffic controller in April (this is Nov :)

Hello, I had the pleasure of meeting you ever so briefly at the Charlottetown Airport with Jim Ewing. I never heard of flight chops until we met. Then I went to your videos. Finally, videos I can enjoy just for the sake of aviation. Love the layout and the style. It was great to meet you. Trevor Jain

    +Jainbrae - thanks Trevor!

Steve, this is absolutely Awesome. I have been an A&P/IA for most of my adult life, and now at the ripe old age of 37, I just bought a mighty Cessna 150, and am finally pursuing my passion. I am currently about halfway through getting my private pilot, and hope to be complete by the end of the month, (weather permitting)and on to instrument, multi and hopefully commercial soon after. As I said, your work is truly inspirational. I just bought my second camera and a GPS puck today. Looking forward to the debriefing community.
    FlightChops
+Christopher Metcalf - awesome thanks! Congrats on your 150!

Just got my goddies Steve thanks man..
    FlightChops
+Mick Martin - Awesome - sorry about the delay. It was a good problem to have when the influx of supporters came and I ran out at the end of 2015, but then the new batch took forever and the number of supporters continued to grow, so I had a pretty big "back order" to catch up on :)
    Cameron Bell
Great channel, really got me reviewing my last flight. Which is a great skill in aviation
    Cameron Bell
Any day man. Aviators stick together
    FlightChops

Steve - thanks for the inspiration. I am now officially a solo student pilot and I have your videos to thank for getting me through the rough times in training so far. I particularly like the honesty with which you present your mistakes. I am trying to give back to the community by posting my own flight videos of me flying and debriefing, and hope this helps promote aviation. Again, thank you for your amazing content!

Hi Steve, i'm a pretty fresh private pilot with about 50hrs here in anchorage Alaska. Recently had knee surgery so I'm grounded sitting around all day watching videos and have been loving your content! Your tail wheel videos have got me really amped to start my training! Also looking forward to more videos on your California mountain flying series, as I live in Alaska its all pretty much mountain flying. Question, do you own any of the aircraft you fly or are they all just rentals? Would like to know if you have any in-site on this topic as I've been going back and forth on continuing to rent or buy and which would be more economical. Renting is nice because you don't have to worry about maintenance, tie down fees, and annuals, but at $160 for a 172p a four hour flight is $640!! That's about as much as what a monthly payment for a $30,000 used 172 would be, but then after I factor in all the other costs like insurance and a engine overhaul that $640 flight doesn't sound to bad... Come up to Anchorage some time and we'll go flying!
    FlightChops
+markle67 thanks for the great feedback. The topic of wether to rent or buy is worthy of its own video, or series of videos... ;). For me, renting has been great. But my flying is pretty specific / limited to being a weekend warrior 2 hours per month average. A big advantage is jumping from type to type (20 years of flying and I still don't know what single type I'd want to buy) and never worrying about maintenance, storage, insurance, etc... Disadvantage, you can't really take a plane for a trip and park it. For training it can be economical to buy a 172, even if you don't plan to commit to keeping it after being licensed. It can also go badly if mechanical issues ground it.

+burt2481 right, yes, that's why I gave the warning about the "scaring myself" video. :P There are lots of PG videos on my channel though, so we'll just have to come up with a list.
