Hey Scott,
I've been playing with my church band for a few years now and I've gotten so much better with the help of your lessons. Thanks for all that you do! However, some of the songs we play are really upbeat and call for me to use a pick for a few of them. Is there a proper technique for this and do you have a lesson that covers it and/or is there a way to get around it all together? Thanks!
Hey everyone... just subscribed to this channel but I don't see any walkthrough path, any structure, like basics, then intermediate stuff, then advanced techniques... just playlists on different topics. Have I missed it? Is there any page that covers the path(s) through the material? Tnx...
I'm 27 with a wife and son, and your videos make me want to go back to age 15 just to have the time available to practice. I'll just have to make due with the little bit I get, something to look forward to each day. Thank you for your work, your success is well earned.
Hey Scott, you know what? you're awesome man.
I don't even play the bass, but everything you share is really interesting. Keep it up!

Hey Scott,

Hi there,
I've just registered on for the 'free' SBL Toolkit Area, but I've not found anything free in there, everything i click on says you need to regiser, or take the 14 day trial, so I click on thew 14 day free trial. So it takes me to the free trial registration page and it says, Your Card Will Not Be Charged For 14 days (Yay), but after that its $168 a year. Thats just insulting, is music the preserve of the wealthy? why cant you put 20 quid a month, I might sign up for that, (and you'd get MILLIONS more subscribers, just think of the teenagers your cutting out) but I cant do 160 quid in one shot, and why USD, I'm a Brit your a Brit, why cant you list prices in Pounds Sterling and USD. I've been watching you on youtube for a while, you seemed cool and likeable, I was really looking forward to the academy, and as I'm as broke as ** and NEVER pay for anything, its an amazing achievement on your part I was considering it, now Im just disappointed. Is 20 quid a month of my money not enough for me to access videos on your website, I can get 1 to 1 lessons for 20 quid a throw.
Scott, I searched your youtube channel for Rush and Geddy Lee and found nothing specific. Not sure how you feel about them. I see you lean towards jazz, blues, funk, Motown, R&B, etc. If you ever wanted to include some rock, I suggest Geddy Lee and Rush,. I imagine something like Grand Funk Railroad would be more closely related to your current emphasis if you were to include some rock. But, that could be a simpler version of what you already focus on. Rush would be a different vibe while maintaining some complexity. I would offer Digital Man and The Necromancer as a small Rush smorgasborg. I couldn't suggest anything past Signals because that's where my preferences end with Rush. After Signals, it all becomes a loud wash of keyboards to me, no dynamics.
Hi men! Nice work, I suscribe to your channel, take a look at mine if you want :D wishes from spain :)
PD: I've been playing the guitar since I was 7 years old and I want to play bass now, can you recommend me a good bass that costs between 125 and 175 €?? Thanks!!!!
Hi! I'm 50 years old and just bought my first bass guitar (or guitar of any sort). I am having problems reaching the lower strings especially with my ring finger, and my pinky finger may as well be on another planet. Can you recommend any flexibility and stretching exercises for the fretting hand? Many thanks!
Hey Scott, I've been lurking your youtube channel for months and finally subscribed. I can't believe I didn't subscribe sooner. Also signed up on your website, which is really awesome. So thank you!
Hey Scott! How are you?!
Could you please make a good little Lesson for "Forget me nots" (Patrice Rush)? There are no good videos or tablatures to find in Internet. I mean, generally is the song not so hard to learn, but there are some places, where the basslines becomes tricky and I can't figure it out.
Have a nice day!
Such great videos, Scott. I've been playing bass for over 20 years now and what really bugs me the most is hearing myself during performances. Here's what happens: I can dial in a great tone when practicing in the shed, but once I'm in a live mix, I just can't hear myself. My gear is more than capable of just getting louder, but then it's just too much. So to stay "in the mix", I keep my volume a bit lower. But then all the wonderful nuance I've been playing with while practicing is lost and I play WAY too hard for my fingers and just lose all my mojo. Sometimes I switch to a pick because I just feel defeated and frustrated. Am I the only bass player that experiences this? I figure if anyone can educate me (us) on the matter, you could! If you ever did a video on this, that would rock! Thanks for all that you do for the bass playing community!
hello Scott. I like your channel kindly. it has helped my confidence as you have touched on some things I have had to learn the hard way. that being said I need a little help. I love hollow body bass tones such as used by Paul McCartney and Bill Wyman respectively using Hofner and Vox hollow body basses. the tone on the Rolling Stones 'What To Do' is inspired to use an example from early rock recordings. have you ever used a hollow body and what is your opinion? most likely I am obviously older than most of whom may be in your subscriber list. signed; a fan from Houston Texas.
