3:21   learnClassicalHebrew

It’s no secret that when people act together – work, study, build – the results can be tremendous. All throughout the Bible, we are reminded of the importance of striving for fellowship and unity.

The momentous events which took place in Jerusalem during the last week of Jesus' life are well-known to most readers of the Bible. Yet the details of this famous story are fuzzy for many of us. Why did Jesus enter Jerusalem riding a donkey? Where is the Garden of Gethsemane and why did Jesus stop to pray there? Why was the site of the crucifixion called Golgotha? These and many other important questions emerge when one takes a close look at the ancient text of the Bible. My name is Jonathan Lipnick and I am a scholar-in-residence at eTeacherBiblical. At eTeacher we strongly believe that the key to truly understanding the Bible is being able to read the Scriptures in the original languages of the biblical world: Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek. In this special series we will look at the places where the stories of the Bible took place and examine the scriptural passages in the original languages of the Bible. We will begin by exploring the final week of Jesus' life in Jerusalem, from his entrance into the city on Palm Sunday to his resurrection on Easter Sunday. I think you will be amazed how these short videos will open up new avenues of understanding giving you new insights into this most significant week in the history of the world. Biblical Hebrew for Christians, Dr. Eli Insights is one of several important ways for modern Christ-followers to rediscover the original textual meaning underlying translations. All translation is interpretation. Therefore even faithful and accurate translations of the Bible must not stop their readers from learning Biblical languages and digging deeper to see why certain translation decisions were made by the translators and to realize that other viable alternatives are also available.

As part of the Biblical Hebrew newsletters, we try to bring you a variety of biblical subjects. Occasionally, we will discuss the Jewish weekly portion of the week, which is read during prayer services on the Sabbath, and is traditionally discussed during the week.
