Q) Why is this video unlisted?
A) The previously uploaded version of
this video generated a lot of animosity regarding the Amazon Echo so I
took it down, did a minor edit and re-uploaded it. I left this unlisted
so as not to agitate the subscribers who had already received a
notification for the earlier upload.

I watched one of your informative videos and I must say that you are far more pleasant to listen to than 90% of these on the web. Here in the US, there is an unfortunate trend towards people making videos even though they possess little talent in this area - including professional ones and reporting the "news"!
This is why I prefer watching British news and documentaries. They are much more informative, balanced and pleasant to the ear. Incidentally, your voice reminds me of Tim Hunkin who did the delightful series "The secret life of machines".
+Techmoan I want to say that your channel is a delight and a refreshing approach to technology. Your presentation is perfect and a joy to watch. You don't fill this with too much technological talk. I enjoy the retro technology to talk about. I will definitely be looking out for your new videos. Ta ta from across the pond.
Thanks. I'm not a fan of technical talk either...it's usually from people who don't really know what they're on about, repeating things they've heard in an attempt to sound clever. I'm just someone who appreciates tech, and the vids are about the tech rather than me.
YES! Like the One click butter cutter, Citrus juice sprayer, Corn peeler, Spining fork and/or the Dough-Nu-Matic Automatic Doughnut Machine. Please and thank you.
Techmon I know that you don't offload your dashcam videos unless there is a need. But we are looking for a dashcam that allows us to offload the videos while sitting on our sofa while the car in the garage. So something that uses our home Wifi or a cloud service. We have an DDPai M6 Plus hard wired to always on 12vdc in our EV, and it does 'local' wifi but we have to be pretty much be setting the car to offload videos over it's private wifi. We hate messing with SD cards. Any guidance would be appreciated. My wife video blogs which frequently includes dashcam video, and when I forget to put the SD card back in I catch he!!.
Have you heard about the original models of Playstation with the standard RCA cable jacks, that are supposedly amazing and coveted by audiophiles as one of the best CD players available? It'd be interesting if you got to the bottom of this rumor. Thanks for reading this!
I.like to see a review on smart or wifi lightbulbs...... what can they do. And are the cool remote featchers realy worth it.... can they be set for dust to dawn, can they be set to turn on automatically when your phone connects with your home wifi And can it do that for multiple phones...... is their a vacation timer that ramdanlys turns lights on and off while you're gone to get the appearance somebody's home so on and so forth
thanks for watching your channel. I've never seen a tape recorder with room for 5 tapes, was turn around in in a carousel. it's look grate.
i renember i have seen a cd-player, not like this, but extreme carousel, can not remember how many CDs they had room for but maybe over 200
it was left in the 90's, in a hi-fi Teck magazine, remember it was very large, gray and square, i think is was 50x50x50cm maybe more. and i remember it as a standing carousel, instead of lying down as you see them normally.. have your seen this before? and can you upload a movie width 100, 200 or more disc-changer(cd-player)

Hello Techmoan. Disappointed that you have turned off the comments feature on your videos. Being able to share our ideas and experiences with other similar minded peoples on different videos is one of the things that helps youtube work so well.
Well, I'm sure your busy. I was looking at some dashcam videos you did. Anyway, I appreciate the effort you have put into these videos to helps us when deciding on purchases.

Dear Techmoan, out thrifting today & picked up an 'Aiwa CX-NA115 cd stereo/cassette player'. The belt for the cassettes was broken, was curious if you could point me towards any good suppliers you know of for replacements? Thank you very much and really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Ok so I have been watching your videos for a while and I kept hearing something at the very end of them. The first few times I thought it may have just been something from the encoding but now I'm certain its intentional. So what I'm left wondering is what sort of code is it?
Who remembers car stereo 4-track tape players? They were out in the early to mid 1960's and were made by a guy named "Mad Man Muntz". I had one in my 66 Mustang and it worked better than the next generation, 8-track players. They used a rubber pinch roller that flipped up into the cartridge so the tape movement was much better than the integral plastic 8 track one. Best was the sound, with two stereo tracks instead of four on the 1/4 inch tape they did not bleed tracks. I believe that the result was shorter playing times though. Anyway they were not around long and would be fun to compare to the common 8-track.
QUADRAPHONIC VERSUS SURROUND-SOUND
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?
by Karl Jeney
On the surface there essentially doesn’t appear to be any. Multiple channels of audio – at least four – coming from various directions. But what color TV did for black and white, and stereo did for monophonic sound, Quadraphonic does for stereo.
Stereo sound is two distinct channels of audio coming from the left and from the right and can also appear to be coming from any point in-between. It responds much like our hearing which allows us to more precisely pinpoint the source of sounds because we have two ears. But 2-channel stereo does have limitations. While it does have "width" (side-to-side) sound, its "depth" (front to rear) isn't as convincing. It tries to simulate depth but overall it lacks a more real sense of distance in the placement of the sounds. Surround-Sound. which has been around for decades in movie theaters, breaks free from the limitations of conventional 2-channel stereo by taking it to another level using multiple channels of sound, usually 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and so on, along with one or more subwoofers for low frequency emphasis (bass). Surround-Sound is intended to be used in conjunction with cinematic presentations or home video to deliver an immersive experience which enhances what you’re watching on the screen in front of you. Match Surround-Sound with a good HD 3D production like James Cameron’s “Avatar” and you’ll enjoy a really impressive audio/visual experience indeed.
Okay, so then what’s the big deal with Quadraphonic sound which has only 4 speakers and directions of sound when you’ve got Surround-Sound which may have 6, 7, 8 or more?
Simply this: Surround-Sound is engineered for the VIEWER. Quadraphonic sound is engineered for the LISTENER; it doesn’t need your eyes, just your ears. It doesn't need more than four distinct channels of audio either. It has both the width and the depth of sound and is designed to maximize that capability. All you have to do is sit down, close your eyes and listen to a well-engineered Quadraphonic or "Quad" record or tape and you’ll instantly understand. There will be moments when the instruments and vocals will hover in various spots in your listening area and breathe an almost palpable sense of them being right there with you. Sometimes the music will seem to come from behind you, and sometimes it'll seem to be coming from beyond the four walls of your listening area. The music appears to dance around the room in a way which gives the listener much more of a sense of being among the artists themselves. Add a subwoofer or two, as I have, and your system will lack nothing. In fact, I have four little Bose satellite speakers (each about the size of a can of Campbell’s soup) and two subwoofers which I purchased at a pawn shop, and my system sounds amazing - room filling sound without ear shattering volume.
Quadraphonic 4-channel stereo is 3D sound.
Why didn’t Quad last? Because it was poorly marketed and lacked standardized definitions and options. And most of the music choices offered in Quad were generally lame and poorly engineered (or re-engineered). All of that left most consumers with bewildering or lousy options to choose from which made them scratch their heads and walk away. Regular 2-channel stereo had been much easier to set up and enjoy. And the easier it is the more desirable it is. That’s consumer reality. Look at the popularity of online shopping for example. It’s beating the tar out of brick and mortar stores.
Quad has made a bit of a comeback, but probably won’t sway consumers the way regular stereo did years before. And that’s a shame really because it sounds just amazing. And that’s why I have it and will on occasion make it available to someone who decides they want it too.
