Thank you for supporting the Yes to AV campaign!
The highlight of the Yes Campaign for me has to be "Is your Cat confused about the referendum on the voting system on the 5th May?" with the mascot Reform Cat!
*PART 4 - FINAL* So you can't blame this all on Nick Clegg, blame it on David Cameron. He is the one who wanted to get more money by fucking the students, he or his cabinet were the ones who did this. So give Clegg a break, he shouldn't ever have made that promise... no politician should, you never know what's going to happen in politics. People who fall to promises that politicians make should also never believe in a promise, NEVER! Anyone who truly believed in those promises should also be to blame for falling for them themselves.
Oh and before you think I'm some rich teenager or some old git, I'm not. I live in a working class family and I'm about to go to University after these A-Level exams in late May and I'm hardly worried about these fees, I'm more worried about how well I will do in the University I go to.
(If there are any grammar/spelling mistakes, I apologise... I wrote this quickly in a short amount of time during a 15 minute break and I need to get back to work)
*PART 3*sacrifice some things (yet this is a small thing to sacrifice like I said before, it's a small amount to pay every month once you start paying it.
Also, who knows, maybe these fees will be abolished some time in the future due to it being very unpopular and then people won't have to pay them ever again after that), and it isn't Nick Clegg calling the shots in government... it's the Conservatives. He obviously never wanted to do this. If the Lib Dems were the ones in power right now, things would be VERY different (NO TUITION FEES and PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION, possibly... I mean they've always wanted it). *END PART 3*
*PART 2* not really working hard enough. That amount of money isn't going to burst your bank account.
But then there are people who don't focus on the money side of this, who understand that it isn't much money to pay every month to repay the debt which university will give you now, and instead think of the fairness of it. University used to be free for everyone; anyone who could qualify to get into university (which weren't many people back in the day so say my mum and dad) could go there whereas these days you have to pay. Yes, it is unfair how we have to pay for university now when most of the people who are in power had free education, I agree. And I also think it's ironic how Nick Clegg used words such as "fairness" in this campaign last year yet he helps deliver something which is unfair, yes I know. But remember (you're probably sick of hearing this), Britain is in a rough time financially and we've had to sacrifice some things (yet this is a small thing *END PART 2*
*PART 1* We all know that Nick Clegg made promises... promises he couldn't keep. That's what people are getting ticked off with here; Nick was seen to be one of the only politicians they could trust and people who voted for the Lib Dems felt somewhat betrayed by him when he decided to go into coalition with the Tories and also persuade his party (to stay in the coalition probably) to vote "Yes" for the increased fees.
But seriously, all these people are making so much fuss over something which, in my opinion, is so small. Yes, I said it, it's SMALL and let me tell you why. Sure, the £9,000 fee (maximum) for every year you spend at University sounds like a lot, but you ONLY start paying (which is a short amount; £15 per month or something around that much per month... like paying for 5 charities, £15 a month is so small) when you start EARNING a lot of money, enough money which pays for the taxes, food, luxuries etc, and if you never earn that amount of money you're *END PART 1*
I am waiting to see the Speech Nick gave on 13/03/2011 here on youtube. I was there to him do it. He was honest, passionate and inspiring. It made me proud to be a Liberal.
So long as your party has any association with a coalition with the Tories and Nick Clegg, you are doomed. Simple PR here Liberals. Compromising morality and beliefs for power has never been something to strive for.
You are going to get absolutely hammered in Oldham, The monster raving loony party stand a better chance. Oh wait you are that party. Why don't you just go back to your mansion while working class people suffer.
Never again! Fair enough, all politicians sometimes have to go back on promises they made, but you campaigned on the idea of a "new kind of politics", and putting the honesty back into it... unbelievable. You lot are finished.
I trusted you Nick Clegg, I was actually excited when you were running for PM.
You said a lot of things that made me start to believe MP's could be something other than useless toffs stealing money to pay for their duck moats.
Then you lied to my face, lied like all the other worthless MP's that lie for a living.
I'm training as a nurse and if I was tasked to take care of a patient (much like you MP's are tasked to look after the country) and I lied to them, and lied to cover up my lies, then I stole money off them to pay for a 'phantom mortgage' I would expect to be struck off the NMC register.
However you MP's who run our country (should be something to aspire to) get promoted when you lie to not only one person but a generation.
Really, you're totally screwed. You had the most unique position possible pre-election. It would have been more favourable had you insisted on a re-election. You haven't even delivered on Proportional Representation or the piss poor: AV. Your party was seen as the third choice, the only party that was cleaner than the rest without a history of utter shit, corruption and lies.
Here you are, not seven months into government and you've not only ostricised the strongest demographic you had, in terms of support, but you've also proven to the entire British public that you can't be trusted either.
No wonder there's so much voter apathy in the U.K, you're ALL the same. I'm not voting for any of you. YOU don't represent my interests.
I wanted more than anything to be a year older so that I could vote for your party in this term. I don't think I am going to vote at all next time. You've destroyed my chances of getting a degree, you've put me in a horrible position in life and effectively put to waste my past year in college and the coming year of college, there's very little use for my A-Levels now. Nick, you went to three universities and had a privileged upbringing and that shows in your lack of compassion for the "real" people of Britain whose opportunities are not nearly equal to yours. It's a shame none of those Universities taught you integrity, honesty or dignity.
Voted for LibDems I belived in Nick and all he stood for, he probly still does. I also understand how somethings need to be done right now to try and sort out this money crisis. But "Fairness" is something i'm not seeing, something Nick and the Lib dems promised. NHS Cuts, Educations Cuts. They deem these "not important" why dont they start with cuts to there extra money they get aside what they get payed in there current positions then we'll talk. Until then, I'm no longer a supporter of this group. Watch Camron have everyone turn against him just like Thatcher, it's happening right now. Don't burn with him Nick your a good guy but I'm seeing more bad than good.
im going to be in debt for the best of my life because of the raise in tuition fees but its either a shot at uni (which may or may not work out for me) and try and work towards reaching my potential or quit life and go an work at mcdonalds or tesco. i shouldnt have to be a gambler to make this decision :(
