'Doom And Gloom' marks the first time that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood have been in the studio together for seven years. The single was recorded in Paris and produced by longtime Rolling Stones producer Don Was, who has worked with the band on five previous albums (Voodoo Lounge/ Stripped/ Bridges To Babylon/ Licks Live/ A Bigger Bang), with the radio mix produced by Jeff Bhasker.

The track is the first single from the album Bridges To Babylon, and was composed by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, KD Lang and Ben Mink.

The video was filmed in New York City and directed by Samuel Bayer, who also directed the promo video for Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", as well as videos for the likes of Metallica, Robbie Robertson, David Bowie, Marilyn Manson, Green Day, Aerosmith and My Chemical Romance.

The video features Oscar winning actress Angelina Jolie in the role of "Baby".

The track features on the 1973 album Goats Head Soup, and was composed by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, and was produced by Jimmy Miller.

The song features Mick Jagger on lead vocals, Keith Richards on guitar and background vocals, Charlie Watts on drums, Mick Taylor on guitar and backing vocals, Bill Wyman on bass guitar, Nicky Hopkins on piano and strings arranged by Nicky Harrison.

The video was directed by filmmaker Michael Lindsay-Hogg, who also directed the promo videos "Neighbours", "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Child Of The Moon". Lindsay-Hogg also directed promos for the Beatles and the Who.

The band were also joined by the Roosevelt University Conservatory Chorus for 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'.
