Hello,
(sorry in advance for the English)
So I have the following scheme,
1) Boiler----Pump1-----Plate Heat Exchanger----Boiler
2) Plate Heat Exchanger-------Pump2------Water Tank--------Plate Heat Exchanger
3) Water Tank------3 way Valve-----Showers------Pump3------Water Tank
Only heat is transfer not water between 1), 2) and 3)
I am new in the modeling, can any one please guide me.
Do I have to create 3 water plant loop, and go from there?
I´m using Openstudio 1.7.5 and Energyplus 8.3
Thanks for the help
When trying to open Sketchup and import the OSM file back into the model, I am getting this error:
Error: Sub Surface 9
This sub surface is missing its base surface, it cannot be drawn.
Along with this error the building imports at inches instead of feet (for example, if the building height was drawn at 8', it imports at 8"). Ever seen this issue?
Added 6 more videos to the What's New in OpenStudio 0.5.0 playlist. Some of the newest videos require 0.5.1 which is available for download the developer page. More to come with 0.5.2.
nrel guys.. you've done an amazing job on your latest OS v0.5.0 release! lots of new features that are working perfectly for now. can't imagine what you'll come up with in your next release! :))) my only request for now is to keep on making those tutorial videos, they really mean a lot to us all!
cheers and thank you for this excellent piece of software!
I posted some preview videos of our upcoming 0.5.0 release. That is not available for download yet. I'll post again when next week when it is ready for download.
I'm going to address a new of questions here in one post, but am limited to how much text I can type.
- Pasting End use - try copying the table from ResultsViewer instead of a web browser, easier to do
- ResultsViewer times series data only SI, but you can request the ABUPS report in SI or IP. In future hope to support IP for timeseries data as well
- You can manipulate material layers of construction to change mass R value etc. If you want a specific R value, you can use NoMass material (see E+ doc)
- To divde up complex geometry our new 0.5 version (due out soon) may be ideal. Watch video on space diagram and spaces.
- E+ example file should have example green roof, if you can't find it try posting to E+ Yahoo group for an example
- RunManager and ResultsViewer are part of the OpenStudio installers now.
hey there!long time to ask u something!i will try to run a smulation with greenvegetation in the roof.have u ever tried? the LAI( leaf area index) for examble and some other values are to difficult to be found on internet.Another question is where i put the values for the watering can ''stuffs''.thanks a lot !u were the best teacher for me in the start! :))
Hi! I'll start to model an airport terminal, which is a medium/large building and I'll do it by matching photos and also with the support of CAD drawings. Watching your videos, I didnt figure out how to divide a big thermal zone into several smaller ones. I saw in one tutorial that you may copy one store and delete a piece in each copy, but I don't think it would work in a bigger building. What should be the steps to achieve that? I think the easiest way is to draw the whole building in a single zone and then divide it into multiple ones, but I don't know how to do it. Could you give me a piece of advice on that?
Hi OpenStudio, Thanks for continuing to develop this great tool!
2 questions.
1) Is there a way to manipulate the r-value and/or u-value of construction types of windows, walls, and roofs?
2) Is there a way in the results viewer to change from metric to english units?
Thanks!
krishen319, It looks like one of your windows is on a surface that is set to have a ground vs. an outdoor boundary condition. You can check what boundary conditions are being used by looking at the object info window or switching to render by outside boundary conditions (icon is blue house). Just change the boundary condition and try to re-run.
arp4u2001, the videos can be viewed on YouTube, or the OpenStudio website. Check our YouTube channel page for the link to our website.

hi.. i have a problem which prevents me from running the simulation. It says, "windows are not allowed on outside ground boundary". I used the same way to do all the windows in my model but except one part contains this error. Can you help me please?
