Batman: Arkham Origins is the next installment in the blockbuster Batman: Arkham videogame franchise. Developed by WB Games Montréal, the game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise.
Taking place before the rise of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.
GAME FEATURES:

● Enhanced Detective Mode: Batman's detective skills are tested as never before with an all-new Crime Scene system that allows players to scrub through the evidence in order to find key pieces of information. Players use Batman's cowl and Bat Computer to digitally recreate crime scenes, allowing them track clues that normal eyes would miss.
● Gotham City as Never Seen Before: Explore areas of Gotham City before its transformation into Arkham City, and experience all new areas and other iconic locations. The dynamic and rich environments are filled with a variety of enemies, "crimes-in-progress" and other content that will encourage exploration and player engagement.
● Most Wanted Side Missions: Hunt down villains who are connected to, but not part of the core story. It's the player's choice if and when they want to complete these threads.
● New Enemies: Encounter new enemies such as the Armored Enforcer and Martial Artist who challenge fans to approach FreeFlow Combat in different ways.
● New Gadget: Utilize an arsenal of familiar gadgets from previous Batman: Arkham games, as well as new items such as the Remote Claw. Batman can take down enemies by using the Remote Claw to attach enemies to one another or to objects within the environment for quick takedowns.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is the new video game with a 2.5D perspective (2D action in a 3D world) developed by Armature Studio, key developers of the Metroid Prime series.
The game is scheduled to release worldwide October 25, 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita.
The story takes place three months after the end of Batman: Arkham Origins and is set on the isolated island at the Blackgate Penitentiary.
The game starts with an intro level in Gotham. A prison uprising has occurred and Batman (voiced by Roger Craig Smith from Arkham Origins) has to go in and figure out what's going on.
As you have just seen from the gameplay video, in Origins Blackgate Batman will meet Catwoman for the first time (voiced by Grey DeLisle, same actress from Arkham City), and will also begin to forge a relationship with a young Captain Gordon.
All the key gameplay mechanics from the previous Arkham games, such as grappling, gliding, crouching and climbing, are implemented in a 2.5D space.
The explosive gel - now called "gel launcher" - has been designed to be shot over a distance, rather than sprayed on a surface.
The Freeflow Combat system from the other Arkham games has been built from the ground up. Batman will still move from left to right, but will also have the ability to move in the foreground or the background.
The game does not feature an XP system, but everything is item-based. You can pick up items and upgrades while playing.
In the predator rooms, players will be able to see the sightlines of the enemies, which allows to know whether Batman can be seen or not by enemies. If you use the detective mode, Batman will change color based on their proximity or based on how close he is to being seen.
The game features silent takedowns, vantage points, floor grates, glide kicks, weapon use, and breakable walls from the previous games. The level design will also allow the player to face the bosses of the game in any order, at anytime.
Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will use a checkpoint system to save, but players will also have the ability to save anywhere at any time.
The cutscenes will look like hand-drawn comics and will be fully voiced by the original cast of Batman: Arkham Origins.

Since the announcement of Batman: Arkham Origins, fans have been wondering if the Riddler would be going up against the young Dark Knight in the game.
Edward Nigma is one of the few villains that truly tests Batman's intellect, focusing his challenges on brain over brawn. He doesn't mind cheating, and has little value for honour.
The Riddler trophies and riddles played a huge part in the previous two games, providing more gameplay variety and a good replay value. But what about Arkham Origins?
It is now well known that a Riddler trophy can be spotted in the background of Batman: Arkham Origins artwork revealed on Game Informer's May cover, but not many people have had the chance to see it.
The glowing trophy can only be seen on the physical copy of the magazine (it's impossible to spot it on the digital cover) and it is clearly visible to the naked eye.
Note that the image is supposed to be an artwork of the game. Batman, judging by his pose and other details, is clearly a concept art, while the background seems to be rendered from an in-game screen which shows a glimpse of New Gotham.
During a podcast, Game Informer asked to creative director Eric Holmes and senior producer Ben Mattes about the Riddler trophy on Game Informer's cover.
The answer and their attempt to avoid the question tells more than they wanted to reveal.
With the announcement of a new secondary villain, Anarky (Lonnie Machin), people started to think of him as a replacement for the Riddler.
In the comics, Anarky uses a red spray-paint to leave the circle-A as a calling card at crime scenes, while Riddler's visual motif is the green question mark.
Apart from these little similarities, the two characters are very different.
Riddler has an obsessive-compulsive fixation for riddles and puzzles that he uses to challenge Batman's intellect. In Arkham City he also takes innocent people hostage, challenging Batman to save them in order to prove his superiority.
Anarky is more an anti-hero who breaks the law to "save the world" in his own way. He is a young man who challenges the status quo of hierarchical power.
In the comics, he takes business elites hostage and places them on public trial, broadcasting from a pirate television show.
In one of the latest screenshots released for Arkham Origins, we can see Anarky reflected on a wall with a projector (similar to Riddler's projections in Arkham City) while probably is spreading his message to Gotham City.
One of the most interesting predictions of the game is that Arkham Origins will feature Riddler trophies and riddles to be collected and solved, with a less mature Riddler, not insane enough to take hostages. Anarky will supposedly take his place, holding politicians hostage in the game. But, of course, this is mere speculation.
We also know that in Arkham Origins an unknown hacker has jammed the radio system and Batman needs to restore it in order to unlock locations for the fast travel with the Batwing. Who is the unnamed hacker? Riddler? Anarky? Or an unannounced villain?

Deathstroke DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins
The user KnightEdge from Arkhamverse.com community reported a news from TheSlanted.com revealing new details for a pre-order DLC of Batman: Arkham Origins which features Deathstroke as playable character (supposedly for the challenge maps).
The DLC advertisement was spotted on Amazon.com and it shows Deathstroke holding Batman's mask.
At the moment there are no official announcements, but we can guess that after the full trailer - which will also reveal another one of Black Mask's assassins - is released on Monday, May 20, we can expect more pre-order options to be announced.

According to a South African magazine called "NAG Magazine", Kevin Conroy - the actor who voiced Batman in Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Batman: The Animated Series among others - will not be returning to voice the Dark Knight in Batman: Arkham Origins.
WB Montreal seems to have decided to recast a new voice talent which reflects a younger Batman in the game.
It is important to note that this statement comes only from a cover story published by a local magazine in South Africa, and in an interview with Ben Mattes, Senior Producer at WB Games Montreal, the name of Kevin Conroy is not mentioned. Mattes just confirms that "there are some voices who have returned, and then there are some instances where we choice different actors".
This means that the absence of Kevin Conroy could be just an "unsafe" assumption made by the magazine, so take it all with a grain of salt until we know more.
But assuming the information is accurate, who would you like to hear as the voice of Batman in Arkham Origins?

According to two independent sources from Kotaku.com, Batman: Arkham Origins could be the first game in the series to include a multiplayer mode.
These sources claim that the players will be able to play as a member of Joker or Bane's gang and battle it out against Batman and Robin (Dick Grayson?). The other villains involved - who may be playable and customizable - are Black Mask, Killer Croc, Firefly, Deadshot, Deathstroke and "some kind of Electroman character" (Maxie Zeus? Electrocutioner? King Kraken? Livewire?).
Remember that none of these rumors have been confirmed by Warner Bros., Rocksteady Studios or WB Games Montreal.

A CVG.com reader snapped a picture of a display stand for Batman: Arkham Origins.
Some familiar faces have been spotted on the cardboard, including Deadshot, Killer Croc, The Joker, The Great White Shark (or Zsasz) and Scarecrow along with the confirmed Deathstroke.
At the moment, we don't know if this display stand could actually confirm that these villains will appear in the game.
Game Informer recently confirmed that Batman: Arkham Origins is being written by Dooma Wendschuch and Corey May of Sekretagent Productions, the team behind games such Assassin's Creed and the earlier Army of Two entries.
Batman: Arkham Origins is due out on PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U on October 25.

Batman: Arkham Origins on PS4 and Xbox 720 this year?
According to the French site Gameblog.fr (http://www.gameblog.fr/news/34714-batman-arkham-origins-devoile-a-l-e3-2013-sur-next-gen), the next game in the Batman Arkham franchise will be "Batman: Arkham Origins".
A "trusted" source told Gameblog that Arkham Origins is developed by Rocksteady Studios and it will be revealed at this year's E3 which will be held from June 11 to June 13.
The game is said to launch this year on PlayStation 4 and the new Xbox.
This new rumor contradicts all previous speculation about a Batman Arkham game developed by WB Games Montreal to be released on the current generation of consoles (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), or maybe this means there will be two Arkham games developed by two different studios.
In other news, the fansite Arkhamverse.com reports that the composer Christopher Drake may be scoring the next Batman Arkham game, replacing Nick Arundel.
Drake mentioned on Kevin Smith's "Fat Man on Batman" podcast that he's working on a new video game that hadn't yet been announced and that is "quite relevant to this show".
Christopher Drake's recent works include DC Animated features like "Batman: Under the Red Hood", "Batman: Year One", "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" and the upcoming video game "Injustice: Gods Among Us".

According to a news from the gaming site Videogamer.com (http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/batman_arkham_city/news/batman_arkham_3_to_stick_with_unreal_engine_3.html), the next Batman Arkham game will be built using Unreal Engine 3.
Among the projects listed on the LinkedIn profile of Daniel Wang (http://www.linkedin.com/pub/daniel-wang/23/b89/83), a Canadian Chinese game designer who works at the company Virtuos, there's a game called "Batman Arkham 3" which seems to be still under development since May 2012, and an "unannounced sandbox action game" that appears to not be related to the next Arkham game.
The notes on the "Batman Arkham 3" project read:
"will update on work on more official annoucements
using unreal 3"
If this information turns out to be true, it would mean that the next Arkham game will still use Epic's Unreal Engine 3, the same game engine of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. This may also suggest that the next title will be released for the current generation of consoles or maybe for
both current and next-gen.
Although the name "Daniel Wang" doesn't appear in either Arkham Asylum and Arkham City games, the company he is working for - Virtuos - is credited in Arkham City as "Outsource Partner" for providing "Additional Animations".
As always, remember that none of these rumors have been confirmed by Warner Bros., Rocksteady or WB Games Montreal, so take it all with a grain of salt.

Batman Arkham Facebook Page
ArkhamCity.co.uk fansite has reported some new changes to the official Facebook page of Batman: Arkham City (http://www.facebook.com/batmanarkham).
It seems that Warner has recently removed its Batman: Arkham Asylum Facebook page and renamed the "Batman: Arkham City" page in "Batman Arkham", by merging both games into one page - and maybe in preparation for the next Arkham game.
Warner Bros. has already confirmed during an investor call that the next "Batman Arkham" title would launch this year.
Some LinkedIn resumes and tweets also suggested that the Canadian studio WB Games Montreal is developing the game and that it would be revealed within 2-3 months.

Batman Arkham 3 developed by WB Montreal?
Recently, Ben Mattes, senior producer at Warner Bros. Montréal, posted a tweet stating:
"In just 2-3 months, our project will be announced (in grand fashion) and it's going to be big! As we dive head-first into our polish period..."
WB Games Montréal developed last year's Wii U port of Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, and now the studio is apparently developing a new "AAA action / adventure" title for PS3 and Xbox 360 set in the DC Comics universe.
Job listings for a producer and creative director outed the project, said to "expand the DC Comics universe in the interactive space".
After the recent stream of news about new "Arkham" domains registered by Time Warner, and a new Batman Arkham title confirmed for this year, we can assume that the new game could be the rumored "Silver Age" prequel (that revolves around Batman's first meeting with the Joker and features the Justice League of America) probably developed by WB Games Montréal.
The possible titles could be:
● Batman: Arkham Universe
● Batman: Arkham Origins
● Batman: Arkham Legends
● Batman: Arkham Legend
● Batman: Arkham Stories
● Batman: Arkham Arises
● Batman: Arkham Begins
● Batman: Arkham Knight
● Batman: Arkham Night
● Batman: Arkham Dark Knight
Or any other unannounced name.
The announcement could take place in 2-3 months (maybe for E3 or earlier), but remember: none of these rumors have been confirmed by Warner Bros., Rocksteady or WB Games Montreal, so take it all with a grain of salt.
As for Rocksteady's next game, the only confirmation we have at the moment is that they're working on "something a bit different" and "pretty exciting".

A new Batman Arkham game will be out this year!
Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that a third entry in the Batman Arkham series will launch in 2013.
During an investor call, Time Warner's CFO and chief administrative officer John K. Martin stated:
"... And we also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012."
Sources from the site VG247.com seems to confirm that Rocksteady Studios is not developing this particular game and it could nod to the rumoured "Silver Age" Batman prequel that was touted last year.
Rocksteady or not, we will get a new title in the "Batman Arkham" franchise before the end of the year, or as part of the next financial year.

Warner Bros. has recently registered a series of 15 domain names that could hint at a possible new title for the Batman Arkham video game series.
In a very similary way, on July 12, 2010 - before the official announcement for Batman: Arkham City - Warner registered exactly 15 web domains, which were:

On January 10, 2013, a new series of 15 domains which include the name "Arkham" were registered. Differently from the domains in 2010, which were registered with details and contact information of Warner Bros., these new domains have been registered by an Online Brand Protection agency called MarkMonitor, but TimeWarner happens to be one of their customers (Warner Bros. is a subsidiary of TimeWarner).

If we follow the same reasoning of the 2010 domains and look for the most redundant name of the list, we discover that it is "Arkham Universe". This title, as silly as it may seem, could hint not necessarily at a sequel or prequel to Batman: Arkham City, it could be in fact a different media or some sort of spin-off, a movie, a board game or something along this line.
For now, all we know about the future of the Arkham series is that Variety spread a rumor about the possibility the next title will be a prequel that centers around Batman's first encounter with the Joker. According to this report, the game is based on the Silver Age of DC comics from the 1950s, and the Justice League of America will be involved. Variety says the game will be out in 2014 at the earliest - maybe to support the JLA movie that Warner plans to release in 2015.
Since then, this rumor has been considered, by many fans, strange and unlikely, especially considering the several unanswered questions and hints at a sequel in Batman: Arkham City.
A well-known habit of Warner Bros., is to announce DC games only after the release of other games of the same publishing house in order to avoid unnecessary conflict between superhero titles of the same publication. For example, Lego Batman 2 was announced about 2-3 months after the release of Batman: Arkham City, and Injustice: Gods Among Us was announced twenty days before the release of Lego Batman 2.
At the moment, the only DC title scheduled to be released is Injustice: Gods Among Us, and it is not hard to imagine that a new announcement for a new Arkham title (maybe even using a teaser trailer like the one made for Arkham City) could take place a bit before or after the April 2013 release of Injustice. The most likely event for such an announcement would be the E3 2013 in June.
For now, we can only hope.

Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition contains all of the content from Batman: Arkham City, including all available downloadable content, and introduces Battle Armored Tech (B.A.T.) Mode and the new Armored Suits for both Batman and Catwoman. Fans can become the Dark Knight like never before with the upgraded battle suit that gives players an additional power-up by allowing them to build kinetic energy during combat.
