My name is Randy George and I am a thereminist.
This channel contains videos I've created that display a small sample of possibilities with the theremin.
Playing the theremin as a melodic musical instrument requires an acute awareness of fine body motions and the effects they have on the capacity of the instrument's surrounding electro-magnetic fields. Every subtle adjustment of the player's fingers, wrists, arms, or body affects the pitch and loudness of the instrument's tone. The scale of notes is located in the space between the player's body and the instrument. Because there is no physical interface to create any frame of reference, the only feedback of an accurately placed note lies with the player's ability to discern the relative distances between pitches.
The ability to interpret melody, harmony and rhythm is also a requirement, just as it is with any instrument.
The theremin can be played very carelessly for pure novelty, or with precision and finesse as a sensitive vehicle of musical expression. It is entirely up to the person who plays it.

On the off chance you take requests, any chance of hearing a rendition of Mike Oldfields Tubular Bells? I believe it would fit the Theremin like a glove if you're contemplating a new project.
