Until India, Pakistan, others come to grips with their over-population situation no amount of technology, food, or world donations will make a difference. These societies are going to have to make a choice quality of life or quantity of life. So far they have been choosing quantity and the poverty continues. Citizens of Haiti and other 3rd world countries have the same dismal situation. ZERO population growth does not mean you are not allowed to have children but if population control is not implemented resources will be exhausted, poverty, disease and corruption will increase. So, end the cycle educate the masses and maybe more people will help your cause.

Hi winxrocker - Shortage of doctors is a difficult macro-level issue, and we do not have all the answers. However, we have invested in companies like LifeSpring Hospitals (http://ow.ly/3th0Z) and Dial 1298 for Ambulance (http://ow.ly/3tgZW), which are trying to improve the quality of healthcare for the poor in India. They both deliver high quality services -- maternity healthcare and emergency care, respectively -- with a business model that makes these services accessible to the poor. Neither company alone is a solution to India's healthcare problems, but it is a start.

What you guys are doing is great! In countries like India, however, from what I gather from my visit there, people seem to have no idea of basic sanitation. Naturally, these people should be educated, but the other problem I saw when I visited was that most parts of India are extremely hard to reach. Moreover, National Geographic reported a few years back that most doctors are leaving India to come here, to come to the US.
Any ideas on how to combat this situation?
